The Center for Global Initiatives does fantastic work and uses the highly skilled friends of Chris Stout's to expand the reach of the Center. I highly recommend supporting his work!

Solid organization. Creative approach. Broad reach. Spot on commitment where it is needed. I have known Dr Stout for over 30 years and this is his work and his life. Do not miss an opportunity to get involved where it will made a difference. My hat is off to you Chris.

CGI and Dr. Chris Stout at the helm has been more than inspirational and effective in doing what they(he does). As the head of another mission works initiative, for me he has been informative and supportive and has even provided a mechanism for me to garner support through his website and organization to promote service in the form of physical therapy abroad. This world is a better place because of CGI. I believe their works to be very deserving of notice and I hopes this brings more awareness to their initiatives.

It has been a pleasure to observe the work that Dr. Chris Stout and CGI have done. They are literally having a strong impact on lives at home and abroad. It motivates me to want to do more. Keep it up CGI.

My time spent with the Center for Global Initiatives exceeded my expectations as a graduate student in professional psychology. Dr. Chris Stout is a visionary. His dedication and compassion to alleviating global suffering inspires others to expand their work beyond the consulting room and to go into the streets. CGI has personally inspired me to continue my studies in liberation and depth psychology and to take a serious academic look at ecopsychology. This opened up a path to go and visit Chernobyl and soulfully listen to the narratives of the elderly who have returned to their homes there.

I worked closely with Dr. Chris Stout at CGI as an intern. My experience was fulfilling and inspiring. Dr. Stout's model at CGI includes taking on small-scale projects for the betterment of the local populations, and applying each volunteer's strengths for the betterment of the projects; I was able to apply my skills and grow as a young professional while working with him. The organization is run to maximize on-the-ground impact, and all people working for the org do so on a 100% volunteer basis. The biggest barrier to CGI's success is lack of funding. Like many non-profits, CGI struggles for funding (an issue I worked on during my internship): with greater funds, comes the ability to implement more projects.

The small-project approach to the public health model works. CGI has a great vibe amongst its volunteers, and it is because the projects CGI embarks on are truly making real differences in peoples' lives across the globe. To me, it is an exciting way to change the world.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would increase organizational structure, which I believe is only possible with more stable funding. This would allow for more coordinated volunteerism and communications, and ultimately, more project work being implemented.

CGI focuses on developing self sustaining solutions for a variety of health issues facing mostly poor communities around the globe. Chris Stout, CGI's founder is tireless in his dedication helping improve healthcare in places like Benin.

I can attest to the fact that Dr. Stout is very committed to the mission of CGI to help address health inequalities through the various projects that the organization has been involved with. For example, CGI is applying for a grant, that if funded would do amazing work in Benin to develop natural plants into potential medicines and be a model for self-sufficiency for the people of that country.
In addition to CGI, Dr. Stout is an invaluable resource by generously giving of his time and energy to others who have questions and concerns about their own efforts to enact change through nonprofit work. I saw this firsthand at the recent WBEZ Global Expo in Chicago which gathered hundreds of change agents together. I volunteered at CGI's table at this event.

Encourage people to get involved and donate if possible.
My Role: Volunteer & I advanced CGI's mission by working as a researcher, author, editor and grant writer. I also helped bring the center into the twenty-first century by introducing Skype, GoodSearch, and other technological advances to the organization. The grants I rese.

The main goal of the Center for Global Initiatives is to ameliorate inequalities in human rights and health care around the world. The center develops sustainable projects specific to communities in need around the world. The programs are developed with the advice and input of local advocates in each region; this ensures that CGI is meeting the exact needs of the people while working with their local customs and traditions. This increases local support and makes their projects more likely to succeed. CGI is willing to attempt to solve any problem- from supplying school supplies to children to bringing needed medical supplies to hospitals. Outside of the projects that they develop and run, they act as a hub for organizations around the world, linking communities in need with organizations that can provide the needed relief. This organization is truly outstanding.

As a future physician and someone who loves to travel, CGI allowed me to learn about countries from a new perspective. It was fascinating to learn how different societies view the role of a doctor and to see how different societies interpret illnesses and treatments. Working for CGI educated me about some of the major health care issues facing people all around the world. My experience at CGI helped confirm that I would like to participate in a foreign medical volunteer programs in the future.

It would be great to have more updates and online videos from each of their projects so that it is easier for people to track the growth and success of their projects.
