As a donor and a professional who has worked on some of the issues this organization addresses, I know that the Center for Biological Diversity is a first class organization making a real difference for the environment, our planet and its inhabitants (us!). Their newsletter is first rate and their effective use of donations to fight for environmental stewardship in a wide range of areas is impressive. They are among the best!

I am proud to be a member. I go from despair to hope when I see how effectively the Center for Biological Diversity carries out its mission. When I think of my wonderful nephews aged 12 and 7, I am so thankful there is an organization like this fighting for their opportunity to live on a planet with life. It's easy to be informed and take action on issues dear to my heart and in natural areas I love with this group.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
Feeling like I can be relatively well informed even without a strong science education.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Passionate well-spoken rebel-rousers who know their stuff!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Make climate change and species protection a permanent national priority.
Ways to make it better...
I can't think of anything.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Lack of funding to do the work that needs to be done.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I don't have a lot of extra money to give to non-profits, as I also work at one myself. This is the one I always think about when I fantasize about winning the lottery or being left an inheritance.

The Center For Biological Diversity is a fantastic environmental nonprofit group. They keep me informed with weekly email updates about endangered animals, pollution and the governments agenda on these issues. This nonprofit is key in helping all living things survive in a world that is clean and safe.

10 years ago, I didn't know very much about biological diversity except for being generally concerned about the plight of endangered species. When I learned about this organization and the global implications of species extinction and habitat destruction, I became a true believer and ardent supporter of their work. I donate at least once a year, alert everyone I know about urgent petitions and their good work and stay informed about environmental and endangered species issues. They are the most amazing, tireless and fearless defenders of this incredible planet of ours and deserve constant support.

The Center for Biological Diversity continues to impress me. I have been following their work for nearly two years through their email alerts and newsletters (which are well written and informative) and have been so impressed not only by not only their efforts, but their amazing results. In addition, their financials are quite impressive, especially considering the scope of their work and the talent needed to make their programs a success. Hands down, one of the best nonprofits I donate to with regards for getting the most "bang for your buck." I believe so much in this nonprofit, that I designated them as the recepient of 30% of profits from one of my company's products!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

I only recently began to receive the Center of Biological Diversity Weekly E-Mail Newsletter. It is a great source for keeping up on what various governmental institutions and private organizations are doing and how their activities affect the environment. Information is empowering. We have to know what the threats are and what the possible solutions are in order to act effectively.

I am a long time resident of Tucson and became aware of the Center for Biological Diversity many years ago. The Center is fabulous. In many ways it is a news service for endangered nature, with fantastic, detailed stories and updates on the species and habitats themselves and on legislative or policy developments that impact them. The webpage is a unique, rich source of information for any one interested in environmental issues. Their primary role, following and challenging activities that illegally harm wildlife or wildlands, is much needed, and they are absolutely professional and expert in this. This is also a grassroots organization in which it is obvious that every penny is used well. The people working at the Center are dedicated and work for very little pay. Clearly for them one of the major benefits is the reward of doing something useful, and they are passionate about what they are doing.

My only gripe is that I did not agree with the Center's position on mountain lions in Sabino Canyon. THe future of nature lies in education and environmental experiences especially of kids. Sabino Canyon is right next to Tucson and the primary environmental education site for many many kids. That outweighed everything else in my view. BUt this is one minor issue in the big scheme of things.

I really appreciate that the Center for Biological Diversity advocates for big picture solutions - and yet never forgets the "little guy." Plants and snails and fish are all important - every species, a role to play in their ecosystem. So much has already been compromised when it comes to loss of habitat and wild places, we need a science-based advocacy group like the Center. Not to mention... they are SO successful with a relatively trim budget. I'm consistently impressed and continue to support the Center.

The Center is an amazing group that really gets things done, both in court and out. They wrote the petition that got the polar bear listed under the Endangered Species Act, work to enforce laws to help fight global warming, and help protect public lands and all kinds of species from destructive activities. I don't know exactly how many species they've gotten federally protected, but it's a lot. I'm not what you'd call wealthy, but I give to CBD regularly because what they do is crucial.
