Address:

PO Box 710 Tucson AZ 85702 USA

Mission:

At the Center for Biological Diversity, we believe that the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature;to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law, and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters, and climate that species need to survive. We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive.

Results:

According to the LA Weekly, we're "pound for pound, dollar for dollar, the most effective conservation organization in the country."

Programs:

Climate Law Institute, Endangered Species, Oceans, Public Lands, Urban Wildlands

Reviews for Center for Biological Diversity Inc

The Center for Biological Diversity is an outstanding organization that speaks for those living things who cannot speak for themselves. In a world that is driven by profits it is certainly inspirational and refreshing to know that while I'm out there working to put food on my table there are passionate, determined people in the CFBD fighting and working hard each and every day—to protect life's most precious gift—it's nature!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

When I travel I can enjoy the fruits of their labor in each environment I go to.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them more power in Washington, D.C.!

The Center for Biological Diversity is an outstanding organization. They care about and work for the best possible solution to all types of ecological situations that include wildlife, humans, the earth. They communicate accurate facts, pros & cons, possible solutions in an easy to understand fashion that makes people very aware of what is happening. They provide followups that keep people informed on the progress of a particular issue. Their staff is dedicated to the issues and obviously very talented. I support them because I know they will use petition signatures and monetary gifts wisely. I especially appreciate the efforts in trying to save the wolves.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have more hope for the wolves then I did before.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The organization seems to be well staffed with a diversity of talent.

The Center for Biological Diversity has done a phenomenal job protecting our endangered wildlife. I can not give enough kudos to their excellence of their legal and scientific research staff. Even more surprising, they accomplish so much with so little funding.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Their support of endangered species designation for the Pacific Northwest Sea Otter.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Provide more funding for their efforts.

It is rare to encounter the level of dedication combined with success that is found in at Center for Biological Diversity (CBD). At this critical early stage of the fifth great extinction, the CBD has brought together an unmatched team of professional scientist, legal minds, and business interests that has been very successful at slowing the biological catastrophe that is currently underway. I commend them and thank them for their excellent work.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

taking action with them on species that are imperiled.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the informative emails that I receive, including both successes and opportunities to continue the fight for the biosphere's survival.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand it membership and more broadly publicize their successes.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

The Center for Biological Diversity Inc. says it all! I view your organization as the spear head and we the supporters the shaft! I value that you value all life; newts to elephants...we MUST try to save their habitat and them for our collective sakes...keep on keeping on! M.B. Coey.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Stoppages and court actions - very important! Once it is gone it is gone!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give it more publicity monies...the more the light shines on these awful acts and backwards types of actions; the better!

The Center is one of the few environmental groups that doesn't constantly remind the reader of how wonderful it is and please send money. Refreshing. As a forty-year Alaskan and conservationist, I enjoy the action the Center takes as well - they go to court and fight for preservation of our wilderness and its inhabitants. Good job! I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

bringing to public attention polar bears, wolves, and other Alaska denizens. The problem with a state with a low population is that it's hard to have a national impact. CBD does that routinely.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

simply fund it more.

I get email from all kinds of ecological organizations. The Center is my favorite. They "get it" that we're doomed without biological variety and that we are destroying that variety at top speed. Their information is clear and concise, and they make it easy to stand up and be counted. Their legal team is top notch and has accomplished what seem to me to be miracles.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

all of their victories winning protections for endangered species (including humans)

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

no improvements that I can think of

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I support the Center For Biological Diversity because they are actually committed to their cause: The protection of Biological Diversity the world over, something I too believe in strongly. They get results, and they don't give up or back down. They don't wilt in the face of powerful interest or lobby groups. They get results!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the number or victories they have won both in and out of court.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Nothing. This organization is doing great.

Having Center for Biological Diversity protecting our forests, oceans and wildlands, gives us an amazing team and edge against the forces who might like to continue destroying the earth for their personal profit. Without Center for Biological Diversity on our team, for instance, Caltrans would think nothing about cutting redwoods and roots of ancient redwoods in a protected state park, just for the sake of bigger trucks getting to big box stores 10 minutes faster. Not only are they helping to save tax payers money, they are highly instrumentel in saving this planet. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks from the top of my heart too.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Our working together to protect Richardson Grove State Park, we will manage to keep special interestes from slicing up our State Parks every time trucks are designed to be larger. Larger trucks take jobs from people, by the way and I am for normal sized trucks, but would like other means of transport to be developed.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Can't think of anything I would change.
