I enjoy their emails because they include, not just what I can do and what they are working on, but also their successes. I am impressed with their ability to use current laws to protect the environment.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
reading about their success in using litigation to protect the environment, using their system to send emails to people beyond just my representatives in Congress to effect big and small changes all over the country
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
expand and file so many more lawsuits to protect the environment

read their newsletters & find out about things taking place in my backyard as well on the FINITE planet we ALL inhabit. kudos to the center & all associated with the making of the Bottled Water Story- which is really an isiduous, dangerous reality in florida! our aquafer [not much of one in a state predominately at sea level] is tainted by salt intrusion, pestcides from agribiz, and all sorts of runoffs & acid rains.Yet, we've allowed Nestle & OTHERS to come and help themselves to our natural springs and pull millions of gallons outs DAILY- while contributing NOTHING to our health & wellbeing. They managed to buy some politicos and profiteer while we run out of landfills & suffer unending droughts. PLEASE HELP the Center for BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY and maybe we can get the Everglades watershed back and the rivers, shorelines, lakes, springs, et al can be restored to HEALTH!

The best thing about this organization is that they realize that human overpopulation is the root cause of environmental problems and they are willing to say so. No one else will even mention this problem much less try to do something about it (the condom idea was not only funny but, apparently, successful). They know that its not enough to ask the government to protect biological diversity: they have to be taken to court routinely to insure they get the message. CBD does just that, and has been very successful at it. As a scientist, I realize that preserving biological diversity is not only important for the long-term health of our planet but will also create a better world in which the chances of Homo sapiens surviving past the end of this century becomes more likely.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
that, in addition to doing vitally important and serious work, they have a sense of humor. Too often people who are deeply committed to a goal seem to lose the ability to see the humor in aspects of what they do or care about. This crowd doesn't.

I follow the Center of Biological Diversity, and act on nearly every effort they bring forth to protect our environment, animals, and plants. It was because of their wildlife alerts that I became aware of Sarah Palin and her wolf killing ambitions long before she became known as the Vice-President wanna be. I wrote letters to all my elected representatives on issues that I wouldn't have other wise known about with out the Center of Biological Diversity bringing these issues to my attention. They deserve every award offered to environmental organizations world wide, and any grants or funds that can be sent their way will only make this world a better place to live in.

This group has accomplished a great deal in protecting wildlife and their habitat by taking their issues to court. I salute them on their accomplishments and strongly support them.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Win more lawsuits, mount more campaigns and advertising. Could also spend money on restoring habitat rather than law suits.

CBD perceived early on that the best way to get the attention of environmental scoff-laws is to sue them and win! While individual citizens may hold a privileged position in their advocacy for environmental conservation, few have the resources to pursue effective litigation against huge bureaucracies. The Center for Biological Diversity has helped level the field and proven time and again that it can bring the rule of environmental law to the front door of those who'd ignore it.

The Center is a first rate organization that manages to produce big results and inform the public well. Their work to keep or return various species to protected or endangered status is excellent. One of the two environmental non-profits I support financially.
