The Center does a fantastic job of getting the government and corporations to protect endangered species and biodiversity. They win over 95% of the lawsuits they file on behalf of the environment and its creatures.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

protection of the desert tortoise.

The Center for Biological Diversity Inc work very hard to preserve wildlife and the environment. I have contributed to them many times in the past and will continue to do so. I totally believe in their efforts.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

win a lot more court cases and protect more habitat.

Excellent organization fighting for a good cause. They are thorough in their research & the articles are very well written. I feel confident with my donations and signing petitions, especially with the weekly email updates on the progress they have made. Hope they keep up the good work!

All the email updates on their progress.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Put more species on the endangered list & kick oil scum butt!

Ways to make it better...

I had more time to volunteer.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Politics! They need to realize there are other ways to improve without destroying the environment.

This group has accomplished a great deal in protecting wildlife and their habitat by taking their issues to court. I salute them on their accomplishments and strongly support them.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Win more lawsuits, mount more campaigns and advertising. Could also spend money on restoring habitat rather than law suits.

Love these guys. Kudos on the Endangered Species Condoms Campaign. Great cause, great planning and execution with an appropriate balance of urgency, rational thoughtfulness, and irreverance.

I'm with an Alaska-based conservation group here in Alaska, so I am familiar with how difficult success can be in this arena. That the CBD has a 93% success rate is astounding to me (and a source of considerable envy, too). I rarely join other groups as I have to watch my pennies and tend to send them mainly to my organization. But I made an exception when it came to the CBD. They are worth every penny I send and then some!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Contacting their Anchorage office in regards to issues my group is involved with.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very informed and helpful in answering my questions.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Sue the pants off the Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, a group seeking to kill as many Alaskan wolves as possible with the state's help.

The Center for Biological Diversity is a very needed and unique source of scientific and legal expertise that has managed to leverage it's small size to make a very large impact. I applaud them for their effort and there tactics and encourage them to keep on doing what they are doing.

CBD perceived early on that the best way to get the attention of environmental scoff-laws is to sue them and win! While individual citizens may hold a privileged position in their advocacy for environmental conservation, few have the resources to pursue effective litigation against huge bureaucracies. The Center for Biological Diversity has helped level the field and proven time and again that it can bring the rule of environmental law to the front door of those who'd ignore it.

The Center is a first rate organization that manages to produce big results and inform the public well. Their work to keep or return various species to protected or endangered status is excellent. One of the two environmental non-profits I support financially.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The communication of alerts and newsletters is well researched and presented in a clear manner. No grandstand tactics, just direct statements and how we can help to solve these issues.
