What I like about the Center for Biological Diversity, is that they're all walk and very little talk. They don't make much noise or get a lot of coverage like Greenpeace or similar organizations, but that is because they're too busy working and suing government agencies, reckless companies, and anyone else, who is not abiding by the law. They also help enact legislation and lobby, so they're one of those behind the scene organizations that gets a lot of work done, and not much credit. I think this is better and more effective than appear to be a tree hugging - whale saving fringe group.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've heard the results of court decisions in the news, where the CBD sued somebody and won.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They are very effective, they don't beg for money. They get much better results than direct action environmental groups, which many times are just perceived as being "too extreme" and end up turning people off, instead of actually changing things.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I haven't worked with anyone directly there

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make sure a lot of environmental laws were strictly enforced and it would also lobby to change things in favor of biological diversity. But more importantly, I'm sure they would make those 10 million bucks go much further than any other organization.

I donate to the Center as able and find their newsletter to be one of the few reliable sources out there to draw on as an environmentalist. They serve as a clearing house on information regarding ecological issues, covering a wide variety of issues, species, and locales. I get news from them that I don't find in larger, corporate-leaning environmental publications. I appreciate being notified of upcoming actions, court cases, legislation, etc. that I'd never know of otherwise.

They don't give in, they don't give up, and they don't sell out. They get results and manage to squeeze big victories out of a shoestring budget.

I have been a member of old line environmental groups since about 1977, and still am. These groups are now appearing to me to make deals with corporations and the government, which I can not accept as the best deal for the planet. CBD is sueing, instead of making deals. CBD does their research and sues agancies for not following their own regulations. They draw a line and stick with it. There is no compromise in the fight for animals and plants, habitats and our air and water.

They do not give up. They take on new causes, do their research, and then sue irresponsible parties, either private or public. They put their efforts where it will make case law, and will do the most long range good for the welfare of the natural world.

I am pleased that the Center for Biological Diversity continues to work to restore endangered species protection to the wolves of Yellowstone and Montana. Wolves belong in and improve those ecosystems. A lot of effort and money went to re-establish these wolves and much of the benefit has been undone by some very bad decisions by the Dept of the Interior allowing over 500 of these wolves to be shot this year.

They address issues that are not easy and take a lot of work and legal challenges. They often win to benefit wildlife, including creatures both great and small, well-known and obscure.

I rely upon the "center" for information and action opportunities that enable me to protect our environment and push our country in a more green, sustainable direction. My only regret is that the newsletter that updates me on legal actions taken by the 'center', information detailing events or situations do not provide more mechanisms for taking action in support of the Center's legal efforts, i.e., petitions, email, letters, and phone calls. Keep up the great work!

many ways. I have become a more active environmentalist. The progress we have made gives me hope for the future of our species. And, the Center's efforts have inspired me to share my feelings and beliefs with others--who in turn have become involved.

The Center keeps me informed of what's going on in our country's environment, good and bad, and gives me lots of opportunities to help. Even more importantly, I have discovered that CBD is one of the precious few environmental organizations completely free of the taint of both Big Pollution contributions and caving to "political reality" of "some carbon reduction is better than nothing." Go Kieran and co.! Keep up the good fight, keep pushing for 350ppm, and for protecting those who truly can't protect themselves from our greed. Many cheers, Sebastian

CBD is alert, fearless and smart. I won't change my 5-star rating for this: I wish they would work on getting corporate influence out of government. This would end the need for many of the battle they're fighting now.

The Center for Biological Diversity does an amazing job at protecting the environment and supporting, well, biological diversity. They keep their eye on the small things and end up helping the bigger picture as well. Their e-newsletter keeps me informed and lets me know how I can help. Because they stand up for all creatures and stay on top of political shenanigans, I was recently moved to become a donor. They work really hard on behalf of us all!

do remarkable things on behalf of the environment and all the little creatures no one notices.

I like how easy they make it for me to stay informed and to have an online voice in every living and breathing underdog matter in all the land. I am currently involved in a struggle to get my Father Gene Marmor out of the indignant, immoral and greedy clutches of the Regency Rehabilitation Center & Nursing Facility in Niles, Illinois. It is run by director Lori Barrish, who does not belong running a nursing home. I have spent 9 weeks out of the last 10 months putting in 8 hour days, volunteering there. I am in from out of state. She is the most rude, ungrateful, contradictory person I've ever had the pleasure of returning this nastiness with thoughtful, helpful, kindness. I lift my enthusiasm right from the voices of experience in the newsletters from the Center For Biological Diversity. Also, when I 1st joined, I was not attempting to become a standup comedian, full swing or volunteering every dollar and all my time to fly to Chicago and figure what is preventing my Father's recovery. Still, without ability to donate, currently, I am allowed all privileges of membership. This is so good. I am so appreciative to be part of this organization.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing the results of their lawsuits to affect action as in the habitat land redesignated for the grissly bears that was adversely affected by the sheep grazing or in the recent regaining protection for the Right Whales habitat.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I like that they set of letters for my to use as is or to easily rewrite or alter just a little to use to email to voice my protest or opinion to ou legislators.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

They're amazing. I have not met them in person because I'm in Illinois, advocating for the elderly in nursing homes. They offer opportunities to meet up in person as well as to volunteer.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Continue to sue the government to do what it's supposed to do, like reduce the carbon dioxide by making minimum mean minimum output; no switching credits or buying them. They could sue to make plans now to reduce car dependence.

I am an online activist. The best environmental emails I have received, have been from the Center for Biological Diversity.
