I HAVE BEEN VOLUNTEERING AT C.A.R.E. FOR OVER 10 YEARS. AS I LIVE IN NY, I TRY TO GET THERE AT LEAST ONCE AND YEAR. IT HAS BEEN A PRIVLEDGE TO BE ABLE TO INTERACT SO CLOSELY WITH THESE WONDERFUL MAJESTIC ANIMALS. EACH ONE IS TREATED AS A FAMILY MEMBER AND SPECIFIC NEEDS ARE ADDRESSED FOR THEIR CARE AND MEDICAL NEEDS. EVERY LION, TIGER, LEOPARD, COUGAR AND THE SNOW LEOPARD GET HUMAN INTERACTION EVERY DAY. THE STAFF HAS KNOWN A MAJORITY OF THE CATS SINCE THEIR BIRTH AND KNOW THEIR INDIVIDUAL PERSONALITIES, WHICH, YES, ARE A VARIED AS HUMANS. IF THEY DON'T GET ALONG WITH OTHERS, THEY CAN LIVE ALONE. IF THEY DON'T LIKE A CERTAIN ENCLOSURE, THEY ARE MOVED TO ANOTHER. THE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS MAKE CERTAIN EACH CAT RECEIVES LIFE ENRICHMENT THROUGH ACTIVITIES AND TOYS. AS FOR THE CARE AND CLEANLINESS OF THE FACILITY, IT IS OUTSTANDING. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PLACE WITH SO MANY BIG ANIMALS MAINTAIN SUCH CLEANLINESS. AS FOR ME, VOLUNTEERING AT C.A.R.E HAS BEEN A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE AND I TRULY MISS EACH AND EVERY CAT WHEN I AM AWAY. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP C.A.R.E KEEP THE GOOD WORK THAT IS DONE HERE GOING. HEIDI, DEREK AND THE KIDS HAVE DEDICATED THEIR LIVES TO C.A.R.E. AND THIS IS TRULY GOD'S WORK THEY ARE DOING HERE!!

I am an intern here at CARE, and it has been a once in a lifetime expierence. The phanominal care for the animals, and the love they give in return is something I wouldn't trade for the world. Everyone here has been so incredibly nice and has taught me so much. For that I am forever greatful. I couldn't imagine my life without these incrdible cats and these wonderfully generous people. These animals are so happy and healthy. I would recommend people to come visit and see what I have experienced in a heartbeat

My name is Shawn Barr and began to volunteer at C.A.R.E in 2007. I try to get out there as many weekends as I can. Since I have started volunteering, I have learned and gained more knowlege about This facility and the animal in there of, than just simply watching about them on t.v. If there was one wish I could be granted, is for C.A.R.E to have more time and materials, to house more abondoned, abused and injured big cats. Maybe even smaller ones, Like Cervals, Lynx and bobcats. I guess in my own opinion, C.A.R.E is simply the best place for a big cat to live its life to the fullest, next to being out in the wild.

On one hand I truly feel sorry for those beautiful cats. On the other hand I know that they are being cared for by individuals that really love them and I see that the cats respond to that love. CARE is a special place.

I have been associated with CARE since 2008. Even after spending 2 and a half years overseas, I had to come back to this place as soon as I got stateside again. Since I've been back in May, I have not left. This place is the best animal care facility I have ever been to and the cats are very special to me. Not only do they have the best care, they also are given respect and love which they all deserve. Though this organization has struggled through the years financially, they have always been blessed with many wonderful people who make it possible to make this organization continue to be the absolute best. Though, more volunteers and donors are always welcome :) I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to know everyone and every animal involved with this organization.

CARE is near and dear to my heart. I was there from the inception and am so proud of how it has grown. I live 1500 miles away, but that did not stop me from going there quite often to help with these amazing creatures. Everyone is so devoted to these beautiful cats and really care about how they are taken care of. I really recommend this as a place to volunteer once in your lifetime, it will change everything!!!

I interned at C.A.R.E. for the fall session and have continued to go back every chance I get. Having worked in the animal care field for three years it is clear that C.A.R.E. is without a doubt one of the best places a big cat could hope to go to. It is also clear these cats are happy and not bored or depressed like you see at many zoos or other sanctuaries. These animals receive the best care that can be given. C.A.R.E. is a diamond in the rough for animals needing a home. Any donation given to helping this amazing facility would be money well spent.

LOVE is the foundation on which CARE is built, love for every single cat in this sanctuary; and it truly is a sanctuary. Each and every cat is loved, honored and treated as an individual, unique in his/her needs, personalities and gifts. It is this holistic approach, and the unsurpassed care and dignity bestowed on each and every cat, which makes CARE truly special and unique. This spirit of love permeates every interaction and aspect of care which Heidi, the director, bestows upon these most beautiful and magnificent lion, tiger, leopard and cougar beings. It is the depth and breadth of her love for them that has created such an incredible sanctuary and home for these cats. Heidi has created a culture and standard of care that isn't found anywhere else. She has truly given her life to love and care for these precious cats; and the greatest gift that we could give to her, and in turn to these cats is to carry the torch with her, lessening her burden. She has generously shared these beautiful (inside and out) creatures with all who enter their world. We will never be able to give as great a gift to the cats as they have given to us. Yet, if you make them a part of your life and let them into your heart, you will never be the same.

CARE is a place where you can tell as soon as you see one cat that everything is done for the animals that call CARE home. Every animal there lives a long, happy, healthy life without a care in the world. Everybody who dedicates their time at CARE puts their heart and soul into their work and it shows when people come to visit the amazing animals that reside there. CARE is without a doubt a place I would recommend people to visit, volunteer, and intern at. If they do, they will gain an experience that will never be topped or forgotten.

I really cannot find the words to describe just how amazing and unique the Center for Animal Research and Education is. Through my internship at CARE I was able to experience the intense work, dedication, and heart needed to provide for the cats and keep the organization running. The cats, Heidi, the family, and all the other volunteers who make up CARE all have become such a big part of my life and a day doesn't go by that I don't think about them. I love my CARE family!
