I am speaking as a mother, I feel that if this program assisting soldiers did not exist, families would not be able to keep in touch with loved ones. It is important for people here at home, to hear, from our beloved soldiers here and abroad

Beginning at a dining room table by 2 very compassionate teens, Cell Phones for Soldiers was born. This organization has provided that ever-important link to their loved ones at no cost while serving far from home. In my opinion, Cell Phones For Soldiers is the greatest non-profit for providing free calling cards to our service men and women.

When two young siblings start a non-profit that has stayed strong for 10 years, provided amazing gifts to our military and their families, how can this result in anything but success! Because of the strong work ethic and the ability to dig in and get the job done, Cell Phones for Soldiers, Inc. is as strong today as when it began. I salute the Berquist family for a job well done and may they know that their hard work and dedication is appreciated by military members all over the world. You are a proud example of watching youth do amazing things for the world and you should be so proud of your accomplishments!

Why didn't this charity respond to the BBB's request for information. While I'm sure they are doing good, I normally like to see what their % expenses are before I donate to any charity. It's great theye are helping our troops but what if their overhead is 50%?

What a great charity. They have been donating calling cards to our troops for years and just keep sending more. Plus, they recycle old cell phones and iPods to get the money for the cards. Good for the troops and good for the planet!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

they're professionalism.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not...they are just right as is.

I am a retired USAF military member and I wish they would have been around when I paid $9 - $12 / minute to call home - their service is to be totally commend - so uncharacteristic of the younger groups to step forward as the two founders did here and put together an organization as they have that has truly helped so many. they get my vote with 5 Stars

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I see that most of the money they get goes to getting prepaid cards for the military in the Middle East.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get them to push harder to get more organizations involved.

My daughter before she left for overseas duty turned in our old cell phones. In turn she sent us a email that she had received 9-300 minute calling cards which she shared with her co-workers. What a nice gift for those serving our country. Thanks for providing a much needed service to our troops.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing first hand the results of the Cell Phones for Soldiers Program works.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Be more proactive by finding ways to bring this program to the attention of more people. More ads on TV, Radio or in newspapers.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Instead of throwing the phone away I was able to recycle it.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide those in need with the ability to contact love ones.

Ways to make it better...

How do you make something better when it exceeds expectations. Many times you donate but never hear who benefits from your donation.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

People tend to be lazy. It's alway easy to take the easy way out. Throw it in a trash can to fill up a landfill. People need to know more about the program and who it serves/

One thing I'd also say is that...

They are meeting a need.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

One time

I started this project in our Crestview Rotary Club about five years ago. It is so easy. Rotarians collect the cell phones, I pack them, download the postage, and mail them the next day. We received a Certificate of Appreciation for 11,280 minutes for our soldiers. The site allows you to put a soldier's APO address in to receive cell phone minutes. Everyone enjoys getting rid of their old cell phones for such a worthy cause! Dawn Helms - Crestview, FL
