Issues: Animals

Location: PO Box 347228 Miami FL 33234 USA

Mission: The Cat Network is a grass-roots organization with over 2500 volunteer and donor members. Its members have trapped, sterilized and vaccinated against rabies over 51,000 stray and abandoned cats since its inception in December, 1995. It is our mission to make everyone aware of this huge community problem and to be proactive in fighting it by spaying and neutering pets and strays, alike. We encourage the public to adopt stray and abandoned cats as indoor-only pets and practice responsible ownership. We also mediate with planned communities and multi-family developments to enact TNR (trap/neuter/release) efforts rather than extermination of stray cats on their properties. Through combined efforts with other local animal agencies we are working to make South Florida a No-Kill community. We also cooperate with and assist other local governmental agencies in animal hoarder situations.
Results: Our members have trapped and sterilized over 51,000 stray and abandoned cats and have adopted out over 7,000 cats since our inception in December of 1995.
Target demographics: Stray and feral cats.
Geographic areas served: South Florida
Programs: The Cat Network maintains several programs to provide a better life for stray and abandoned cats. Our Spay/Neuter Program is supported by over 40 local area veterinary clinics, and provides low cost sterilization and vaccination. Our Adoption Referral Program provides a much needed outlet for adopting stray and abandoned cats. Our Special Needs Program financially assists members seeking medical attention for injured and ill cats that they have rescued.

Continue with the good work that you have placed in the hearts of so many innocent animals. Saving lives and finding homes for them in the same light are a blessings on their own.

One day I noticed a couple kittens near my work. I followed them and found out there were many strays living behind the buildings. Each week I trapped a few and took them to get spayed and neutered. As a Cat Network member I was able to use the mobile unit or a participating vet with the certificate. Without this organization there is no way I could have spayed/neutered the number of I did. Thank You Cat Network...

Without The Cat Network, Miami Dade County residents would not have the opportunity to help stray and feral cats like they do due to this organization. This organization helps residents with low cost spay and neuter. Without them, I could never have afforded to help as many innocent lives as I have done. THANK YOU Cat Network.

The Cat Network works tirelessly to be the advocate of cats, especially strays or ferals. Without their devotion and determination to educate the public, people would continue to ignore or worse harm these innocent animals that are homeless through no fault of their own. Regardless of what people may think about TNR, the Cat Network is trying to be a positive force to reduce cat overpopulation & homelessness. They foster and adopt out as many cats as they can to loving, responsible, permanent homes.

Because of the Cat Network, I learned about trapping feral & stray kitties. South Florida is notorious for the over population of strays & the lack of empathy from our politicians towards animals. The Cat Network & the Meow Mobile have filled a huge gap in bonding these poor animals with an animal-loving community through the humane practice of T-N-R & their vast resource of fosters.

The Cat Network stepped in a few years ago to help my friend find a home for a "feral" cat. Plus, they spay and neuter and that's one of the most important things to do to help stop the killing.
