Casa. the Center for Prevention of Abuse and Violence, a forward thinking and noble organization, offers services to both children and teens that help to end physical, sexual and verbal abuse, and to promote education through skill building programs. Casa’s programs have been adopted in Elementary and High Schools throughout Phoenix, and educate our valley’s youths to help prevent them from becoming victims to abuse. Stephanie Orr has been the backbone of CASA for over 30 years and remains as inspirational and focused as the day she started with the organization. As a board member, I feel honored and privileged to work along side Stephanie as CASA continues to help our Valley's children enjoy healthier relationships and a safer city in which to grow.

Casa is a tremendously important organization that does crucial work for the people our community. Most agencies involved in abuse take a reactionary stance as opposed to a proactive stance. Casa is one of the few organizations with a staff that is forward-thinking enough to put time, energy, and resources into education and prevention. As a donor, I feel confident that Casa is making good use of its resources to educate students, teachers, and other community members about building healthy and positive relationships.

Casa's student programs facilitate self-esteem and knowledge about relationships, so that young people can identify whether a relationship is positive or negative. Students can immediately use that knowledge to build healthy relationships.

I think CASA is a great organization. They know what they are talking about when they come to our school. They help where they can. They are good with the students. The students love when they come and talk about stranger danger. The students love the vedios. The students will all the time tell me do I remember about the girl in the vedio that was sad or the boy that was scared to tell that he was being hurt. The way that Casa talks to our students is age appropriate and they remeber the lessons. I feel that Casa cares about the community around the school. I have seen them help out a community memembers and rasie awareness for people that are in trouble in the community. When a girl was ganged raped and she was 11 and the boys were 11. Casa sought help for all of them. This is a wonderful organization and deserves all the praise. Thanks!!!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I bekieve in their programs. I wish we could get the social and emotional and bully programs into more schools. I love working with them.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I love the staff there. They are helpful and do whatever they can to help. They have so much information and experience. They also want to share with every one.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do so much for our communities and childern. We could work on stopping bullying in schools. We could work on social and emotioal learning which can help improve our schools and test scores.

CASA is an amazing organization with staff who are knoweldgeable and willing to provide the type of prevention and or intervention that my schools have needed. When I was on a school campus and leading the Peer Leadership program, CASA staff worked with my students to train them to teach their peers about sexual abuse, sexual harassment and dating violence prevention. The peer leaders were able to speak to their peers about these issues in a manner that would actually get the information across. I was also fortunate to have CASA staff co-facilitate an abuse victim support group on my campus. Now that I am at the district level and coordinating crisis response for the campuses, it has been invaluable to have CASA respond to crisis situations immediately and professionally. Our community is so fortunate to have this agency and all schools need these programs.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the ability of my peer leaders to present sensitive information to their peers, my staff to receive the support they need when a crisis occurs, and the training that has been provided to my staff to intervene appropriately

CASA has provided in class sex abuse prevention programs in our school numerous times over the years. These have been very thorough and well done. Teachers, students and parents have been very grateful with the information presented. It has proved to be invaluable in helping students address areas of concern. The presenters are always available to any student who needs a follow up conversation and there have been many. These have always been very beneficial to the child. It becomes clear that many of our children are carrying burdens no child should have to bear. These presentations have provided very important release for some of life's toughest issues. Of course the issue of prevention is always difficult to measure, but the students receive clear instructions on how to handle potentially abusive situations and are are taught that they have a right to stand up for themselves, how to do it and to not to keep such situations secret. This is of paramount importance as it is what allows abuse to continue and grow. Given the student response we have every time we have these presentations, it is clear how necessary they are. This an an organization of great importance to our community. They were here when on one else was there talking about the issues or helping victims. Their contribution to our community is immeasurable.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the school I work in. Their presentation has resulted in sex abuse disclosures that have resulted in children getting the help they need. It has also identifed children who previously had disclosed but had not received the help they needed.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Expand their services as more is needed in the way of prevention and treatment.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I have over 30 years as a social worker and know what a great need there is in the area of sex abuse and knwoing CASA is there is such a benefit.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Were knowledgeable, helpful, caring and great.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

make a major difference.

Ways to make it better...

They had more resources.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial

One thing I'd also say is that...
