I volunteered for this wonderful organization and not only was it rewarding to help for such a universal and worthy cause, I found the staff were so well organized and dedicated as well as just a group of very nice people. I would love the opportunity to volunteer for them again!

I participated in some of the public education lectures and the planning committe for the annual fundraising event. I'm an instructor for Medical Assisting and I along with 3 of my students had the opportunity to run the blood pressure screening booth at the annual CVDF fundraising event "Walk for Life". Not only were we able to provide a much needed and appreciated service, but the experience was very rewarding for us as well. Everyone affiliated with the CVDF was a true professional. I was able to network with some wonderful people and overall had a wonderful and gratifying experience.

This organization attends to many facets of cardiovascular disease. It aims to educate people from all walks of life on prevention, share resources for treatment options and raise money to spread the word. It is well organized and includes outreach to young people as well to demonstrate specifics on how to stay active and healthy, which reduces the likelihood of getting the disease to begin with. Nancy Kelly has been a kind and wonderful presence in her role with CDVF.

I got involved because my father died unexpectedly of a heart attack, and no one in our family had the information on our radar at all. I want to help people to understand the importance of their choices make throughout their lives , and to have the knowledge to make good health decisions, and to know where to go for information when they need it.

I would have to volunteer more to have a legitimate response.

As the Training & Curriculum Specialist for a youth & teen center, I am always trying to find topics of interests to keep the employees engaged and motivated. I have relied on the Cardiovascular Disease Foundation for the last few years to help me with this. Their topics are very relevant to today’s challenges that we face with children of all ages. The knowledge and professionalism of the presenters makes the subject matter that much more credible. In working with the children themselves, they have an interactive carnival type atmosphere that the children really enjoy. It keeps the children engaged for a couple of hours and they learn a great deal each and every time they come to our centers. They are very pleasant to work with and very accommodating.

I have presonally asked each employee what they learned from the experience and how are they implementing it into their lives or the lives of the children that they work with.

As knowledgable as the presenters are, the feedback I have recieved is that they need to be more engaging and not so boring. Otherwise, there is nothing that I would change.

As a cardio patient of Dr. Franklin Zalman, M.D. , F.A.C.C., the founder of Cardiovascular Disease Foundation (CVDF) , I was introduced to the foundation Executive Director Malinda Engerer, whose dedication and energy have lead to the growth and success of the foundation. I have worked as a volunteer and as an adviser in support of health fairs, body fat and blood-pressure screenings, fundraisers, attended various public lectures on health and nutrition, now directed to the youth in an effort to prevent future heart attack victims. I have particularly enjoyed the Walk/Run for Life held annual at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater and working with all the other volunteers in making a difference.

I've always been an avid fitness enthusiast. I was never really worried about informing others, until the diseases hit "close to home." Among family, many children throughout the community feel trapped. They do not know better, and their parents aren't teaching them. Maybe the parents weren't brought up with the knowledge either, maybe they feel it's too expensive to eat healthy. There are solutions and this foundation is doing their best to create awareness.

Seeing the faces of those families that look astonished at the facts, or say things like, "I never knew that," or,"That really can work huh?"

Without this North County office and organization, thousands of San Diegans would be far worse off in their struggles and difficulties with this terrible disease.
Congratulations CVDF / Malinda & Nancy !

My invovlement was accidental, but I'm so glad I was able to participate. The foundation was well organized and had all volunteers assigned to various areas.

The event was funa nad I felt we were doing something positive not only for the community but also for myself, providing
awareness for cardiovascular diseases and how they can be prevented.

Being able to do a mini health check was also beneficial for the community and the volunteers. The venfors that participated also encouraged a healthful lifestyle.

I plan on participating again next year.

The only thing is maybe more exposure so more people can benefit from the event. The event ran smoothly.

We worked with Cardiovascular Disease Foundation
Just a few months ago via the walk / health fair in Oceanside. This company is full of amazing people. Our students were so amazed by the want to give back to the community.

They are wonderful!!
