Mission: Canines for Service is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to achieve greater independence and enhanced quality of life and improving people's lives through the services of specially trained dogs.
Results: Canines for Service, Inc. (CFS) provides people with disabilities independence and improved quality of life through the placement of quality trained service dogs. Founded in 1996, CFS has provided over 80 service dogs since the first placement in December 1999. Today, CFS operates training programs in three communities and provides services within a 10 hour driving distance from Wilmington, NC. The three phase training process takes up to three years and a fully trained service dog is valued at $40,000. The client does not pay a fee for a CFS service dog.
Target demographics: people with mobility limitations and Veterans with mobility, TBI and/or PTS

Geographic areas served: with a 10 hours distance from Wilmington, NC for non-Veterans and nationally for Veterans
Programs: highly skilled service dogs from an accredited Assistance Dogs International Member organization
