I am proud to say that I have volunteered for Fran Drescher's Cancer Schmancer Foundation. Fran is the real deal. Her book, Cancer Schmancer, gave great comfort to me and my sister when our Mother was dying in the hospital. Fran is a tremendous human being and genuinely cares about the health and welfare of others. I support her Foundation and everything she does. I wish she had run for Senator of New York; she would have got my vote.
When my sister was first diagnosed it felt like our worlds fell apart. Thinking what to do where to go to. Then I started reading about cancer schamcer and this orgaization became an inspiration of hope. Like Fran Drescher we went to several doctors and received mis-diagnosis. Until about 5 doctors later my sister was finaly diagnosed with Lymphoma. Unfortunately she was in the bas stages of it. Her lung was 95% full of mass, due to all of this she had to go thru massive treatments of Chemo, radiation treatments. I thougt that this was nevering. Finally after about 3-4 years of this she has been in remission for 7 years. Because of this I started to donate more money than ever to several charities. I began to visit the sick in the hospital to let them know that there is hope out there.
This is by far one of the best organizations I've been involved with. They continuously educate you about the latest findings, risks, warning signs, you name it. The team is simply wonderful and it's a joy to volunteer for them. Raising awareness is just as important as letting people know that a diagnosis is not a death sentence. Stage one IS the cure!
I've never been one to go to the doctor... afraid of what they might find, never gave up time from work to do so...too busy, etc. The worst part is that I used to be a nurse, so I should have known better. But after I read Fran's book, it was like a brick hit me. I ended up going to the doctor and to make a long story short, I was able to catch my thyroid cancer in its earliest stages. Thank you for empowering me to take control of my body and for all you do for women!
Cancer Schmancer Foundation is about empowerment of women in making their helath care choices. Its about women being able to demand the best diagnostic tests and early detection of cancers to have access to 100% cure rates that are available at stage 1. Its about encouraging doctors to be more open and receptive and to learn to listen in the relationship between doctor and patient. This foundation supports policy that will change the face of health care in a positive direction. It is top notch, and its leader, Fran Drescher, is also top-notch. She is an excellent, driven and ethical leader of this foundation.
I think raising funds to help fight cancer is a terrific thing!! I feel if my Dad had put up a fight he'd still be alive today. SO GET OUT THERE & FIGHT!! DON'T EVER GIVE UP!
In offering my services, I've been fortunate to work closely with some of the most compassionate and forward thinking group of people. In meeting and working with Fran, I can tell you that she is very genuine, strong and focused on getting early detection to become a priority in Washington.
The Cancer Schmancer Foundation provides the tools needed to make women aware of listening to their body. As a pageant title holder I am involved with many charities. This one is near and dear to my heart because it can happen to me! The world needs to know the importance to trusting what your feelings are and not giving up just because a test said you are fine. As a spokesperson for Cancer Schamancer I want to make sure that programs are available to help educate those who do not know or feel alienated.
In the spirit of Michael Jackson, it is great to see a celebrities put thier entire life behind making life better for thier fellow man or in this case woman. Long Live Cancer Smancer. My name is Alan, and I am member of the momma's boy club & "daddy wraped around his duaghters finger" club.
Thank God for Fran Drescher. That's all I have to say. I admire her for staying strong through her whole experience and trying to make a difference after it. And not only trying, but succeeding. Cancer really needs to be detected earlier so more women will survive. Stage 1 is the cure!!
