While much of the activity of cancer related nonprofits center on finding the cure- of course an extremely important and admirable goal- this organization takes a different focus. Cancer Schmancer works on what we can do in the mean time. Advocacy and education for early detection provide the best chance we have right now. Inspired by Fran's story, I sought out a way to make a difference but in a different way. That's Cancer Schmancer. I was with them in NYC for their amazing showing at the Revlon/EIF Run-Walk, and I hope they only continue to grow and gain support for their important work.

When I was first introduced to Cancer Schmancer, I could tell right away that the dedication, enthusiasm, and compassion that you hope to find in nonprofit work is truly present throughout the community. Above all else, that's why I decided to work to help them spread their mission. Fran's story has inspired many women who have shared stories about feeling more empowered, comforted, and optimistic about their own health-- an amazing feat in an of itself. But what makes Cancer Schmancer truly unique is its emphasis on making each and every one of us a medical consumer, promoting early detection, and emphasizing prevention of cancer through health and happiness. The message is positive and encouraging, and the community is continually growing stronger.

I really appreciate the focus of Cancer Schmancer on education-- take control of your body. GO to the doctor, ASK questions, and most importantly, ADVOCATE for your needs. The staff is so committed.

Wasn't feeling like my usual self and normally I would ignore it, but I heard Fran speak a while back about how you have to listen to your body and go to the doctor. And I did... although it wasn't cancer,(thankfully!!) I would not have done it if I didn't hear about this org. Thank you Fran and Cancer Schmancer.
