Cancer Schmancer is one of the most important non-profit groups that exists right now. Nothing is more basic and meaningful than the message of empowering yourself over succumbing to cancer. So many people are suffering ONLY because they didn't get tested soon enough or because they didn't know what to look out for. Through education and medical policy change, no one should ever have to die of cancer ever again. It's our "Black Plague" - unstoppable once the disease takes over and it's too late. In this day and age, with our advancements in science and access to information, there is NO EXCUSE for cancer. People shouldn't have to lose a fight against their own bodies. It's heartbreaking. The suffering that families go through watching a loved one trudge through the fires of this disease is unbearable. Cancer Schmancer's fight to stop this universal suffering by spreading awareness and promoting policy change is a great hope in the fight against this horrific disease.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

policy change in Washington DC. - it successfully lobbied for more awareness and funds for gynecological healthcare. Also - spreading the important message that if more people got diagnosed in stage 1, almost everyone would live.

The Cancer Schmancer Foundation is the best organization around for promoting Women's Healthcare. Ms. Drescher encourages women to take responsibility for their health and to speak up regarding our care. We should all be very thankful to have Ms Drescher on our side and leading the way for better healthcare.

This is a great organization founded by a great woman. There is a long history of cancer in my family, and I feel that Cancer Schmancer has helped me better understand what I should and need to be doing in order to help myself. Not only do the people involved in CS talk to people about making a change, they try to make the change themselves by appealing to lawmakers.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

publicity. Hardly mentioned anywhere, and you really need to dig to find it. It does GREAT work and more people really need to hear about it.

I was first introduced to Cancer Schmancer over 2 yrs ago when I thought I had ovarian cancer. I was searching for answers and someone else who had gone through cancer. I found Cancer Schmancer and all their articles, helpful advice and Fran Drescher's active role in congress and in the media to be wonderful and inspiring. I lost two aunts to cancer because they waited too long to get tested or instead of getting a second opinion believed their doctor's first answer. Finding out later that one of my aunts could have beat cancer had she just followed her gut instinct and got a second opinion made her death even more heartbreaking. Thank you to Fran Drescher and all the people who work with Cancer Schmancer for spreading the word and making it more dominant in people's mind to battle it in Stage One.

since I'm not living in the US, I wouldn't have known about the foundation, if I hadn't been a fan of "the nanny", miss fran drescher. I loved her book "Cancer Schmancer" and it's great that she founded the "Cancer Schmancer" movement. my grandmother died of ovarian cancer because it was diagnosed to late and I think it's very important for celebrities to work for/ with such great foundations.

Their Dedication to helping things become a reality through legislation is amazing. Programs such as The Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act would still be a dream to some folks if not for the tireless efforts of the group of dedicated Staffers and Volunteers at Cancer Schmancer.
