Former Boston Bruin Cam Neely and his brother Scott established The Cam Neely Foundation in 1995 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. At the time, the mission of the Foundation was to provide comfort and support through the creation and operation of The Neely House. The House is a home away from home for cancer patients and their families while the patient undergoes treatment at New England Medical Center. Since opening its doors in August 1997, The Neely House has hosted over 1,000 family night stays. The newest project is The Neely Cancer Fund. With The Neely House secured, The Neely Cancer Fund is a natural evolution for the Foundation. Every aspect of what we do supports cancer patients and their families during treatment. The Neely Cancer Fund extends our mission to fund research initiatives and speed new treatments to the patient bedside.

The Neely Foundation's operating program involves funding the The Neely House and The Neely Cancer Fund. The Neely House provides short term housing and support services to National and International cancer patients and their families while undergoing treatment at Tufts Medical Center and other local Boston area hospitals. Currently, The Neely House occupies 14,500 sq. feet, with a total of 16 apartments. Since the House opened in 1997 it has hosted over 4,700 families.Gifts to The Neely Cancer Fund will be used to foster unique collaborations among scientists and clinicians to develop new and better treatments for cancer, speed delivery of research advances to the bedside, constantly improve care for cancer patients, raise awareness of the benefits of early detection and prevention of cancer and provide the best possible support for cancer patients and their families during and after treatment. To date, The Neely Cancer Fund has funded: The Neely Center for Clinical Cancer, Research, The Neely Cell Therapy and Collection Center, the renovation of the Neurosurgery Department and Outpatient Clinc at Tufts Medical Center, a Minimally Invasive Neurosurgical Operating Suite, and The Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Floating Hospital for Children.
