Mission: The Cabbage Patch Settlement House is a non-profit, Christian organization that exists to empower at-risk families and children to be self-sufficient by helping them maximize their spiritual, social, emotional, physical, moral, economic and educational potential. Major programs include Recreation/Youth Development, Educational Opportunities and Counseling & Family Servcies. Although we offer a wide variety and significant number of program opportunities, our primary programming philosophy emphasizes proactive programs, which are based on established goals and objectives. Our programs offer children and families a hand-up, not just a handout.
I have volunteered at the Patch for over 15 years. I work with children and youth and know first hand the power of The Patch in their lives. Children are given opportunities to experience a sense of future and support for those dreams. Families are supported emotionally and with training to help their children achieve.
I have also volunteered in other community centers during my lifetime, in Cleveland and in Alexandria Va. The Cabbage Patch has a nearly perfect match of a highly focused board of directors and a staff that has the skills and facilities to provide great opportunities for youth to excel and reach their individual potentials.
