Butterfly Wings Ministry runs summer camps for women in North Carolina, presently 5 camps operate. Laurinburg,NC, Durham,NC, Greensboro,NC,Charlotte,NC and Asheville,NC Each camp meets one night per week for a 9 week period. Activities include group discussion on a theme or a particular concern of an attendee, crafts with a point of focus, a speaker for the evening, food and introspection. No topic too tough. We encourage business women to attend women in education women in rehab and halfway houses then we encourage them to talk and there by discover similarities rather than differences. The object is to transform negative behavior to positive. Help body, mind and spirit.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing women come in on first night unsure of what will go on,then 9 weeks later tears because it's the end. They have confidence, courage and are committed to improve their situation.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Have a year round program if funding was available, then expand to have mobility in the program, nature trips and educational trips to broaden the scope of knowledge.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Seeing the timid woman come in first night, then emerges at the end a positive, strong and focused woman determined to conquer self, addition, fear and self destruction.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated, good Patience and strong.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Have year round camps in every state.Add business training, personal one on one counseling for, finance, health and wellness, spiritual support, job training and in some cases safe housing for abused women.

Ways to make it better...

More staff were available and if they had their own facilities so sessions were not bound by time. The most important is having money to provide more of everything.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Money to maintain the program in 5 cities and being limited to expand the training of camp leaders and having descent facilities, secure facilities with volunteers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

We need help to get this right and make a difference. To effect change you need an alternative, that takes money.
