My daughter had volunteered ant Bright Future Farms for her senior project. So I got to see hands on the time she spends with her rescue horses and the hard work she does every day with them. And this does not even account for the time she spends finding the horses a new home. Little did we know that Bright Futures Farms (Bev) would be such a huge help when we needed help rescuing our horse and finding him a new home. We had found our horse a new home since we were moving and would not have the facility to keep him any longer. We thought the people were going to give him a wonderful loving home, only to find out he had lost about 200 pounds in 6 months. I had talked with Bev who helped me from day one at trying to find him a new place to live that would give him a home with loving people. She did just that! The hard work she does for Bright Futures Farms and the care she gives to each and every horse is such an unconditional love for animals. I truly do not know what I would have done without her help. She makes sure that each horse is going to get the care it needs so that it will not be mistreated and that the new owner and horse would be a good match so the horse can live the rest of its life happy with its new owners. Thank you Bright Future Farms! Crystal Milford

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Bright Futures Farm and the owner/creator, Bev. She is an amzing person that is incredibly inspirational with all that she does for th sake of these animals. I have adopted the horse that has truly become one of my best friends. He was an ex-racehorse that did not prove himself a racetrack winner so he was to be shipped off to his death until he was rescued by Bright Futures Farm who saw his amazing potential. Bright Futures Farm is a wonderful rescue where I have not only found my dream horse but was also helped tremendously when trying to rescue another horse that was about to suffer the same fate had nothing been done. She found an adopter for him right away and he now has a happy life which could not have been possible without Bright Futures Farm. I would be more than happy to continue to help out there anytime!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Finding and adopting Commander, the happiness of my life, as well as rescuing Nick, a Quarter Horse that was quickly adopted through Bright Futures Farm.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make zero changes.

We are an adoptive family to a thoroughbred former race horse mare that had an injury to its hoof that ended its racing career. The glitz and glamour of the racing days is interesting to research but the real joy we have is the daily beauty and enjoyment of being able to care for and absolutely love such a fine horse. Her years of training and regimented racing career make her such a pleasure to have at our family farm. Bev and Bright Futures Farms have made our dream home and dream horse farm a reality. We are extremely happy to know that this horse that gave so much to so many will "not" be merely discounted and sent to slaughter or mistreated and abused in any way shape or form, but is now at her forever home and loved as she should be!

My name is Sue Latkowski. I live in Washington county Pa. were my sister and I take care of several horses and other animals. Up until last year we had always been able to rent farmland or pasture to keep our horses on. We have 4 mares, 3 geldings and a paint breeding stock stallion who is 20 years old. We were keeping our stallion and 1 of our geldings together on a farm in Houston PA. but last year the owner passed away and the farm was sold. We had less than 2 months to remove the horses and could not find any property to rent to put them on. Here in western Pa there has been a gas well boom from the Marcellas Shale and nobody was interested in keeping up fencing and renting property anymore. None of the boarding facilities wanted a stallion and Black was to old to geld. We were backed into a corner and faced with the prospct of putting Black down. I decided to put out a general plea for help to all of the area rescues through e-mail and Bev Dee from Bright Futures Farm called me. To be honest, I was more than a little surprised to hear from anyone. I know how overwhelmed most rescues are and finding one that would take a stallion was a real long shot. But Bev told me Bright Futures worked with a woman up in New York who was able to keep 2 stallions at her facilty and because one of them had passed away last year they had an opening and could give Black a home. My sister and I were overwhelmed because we so close to having to put Black down. It wasn't that we couldn't afford to take care of Black, it was because we didn't have a farm of our own and had no where to keep him. We had owned Black and most of our other horses for 15 years and it was devestating to think of losing him that way. Bev and Bright futures farm gave Black his life and a home. She came and picked him up and drove him all the way to New York where he is today. I'll never be able to thank Bright Futures Farm and Bev enough for giving Black a second chance.

Sincerely,
Sue Latkowski

When it became obvious that the new home we had found for our beloved horse was not providing proper care, Bright Futures Farm helped us find him a loving and caring home.

I was looking for a forever home for a retired draft horse and pony. Despite the fact that neither fit the retired thoroughbred or riding horse scenario Bev helped to place both in a timely and sympathetic manner. I recieve updates on both animals and am very pleased with the homes provided for both animals. I appreciated her understanding and work to make it all happen. It was a great experience and have recommended Bright Futures Farm many times.

This organization is well-maintained, well-organized, and devoted to second chances for many talented and giving animals. Their primary motivator is the well-being of the animal and they should be commended for it.

Without the help of Beverly and others working to help Bright Futures Farm my family would not have our wonder horse La Mamasita. La Mamasita was a race horse and when her race season ended she was given to another trainer that said she would be racing her the next year. The new trainer was less than honest and La Mamasita ended up at a few auctions and became scared when she was left at her last auction. The results were she was too scared to let anyone near her and she sold to slaughter. With out the help of Bright Futures Farms she would have ended up in a very bad situation. Thousands of horses every year end up on slaughter trucks heading to their death. Alot of these horses were just sold because their owners could no longer afford them or don't know any other way to sell their horses to get them a new home before they can't afford to feed them not knowing what their fate will be at the end. Bright Futures Farm steps in when there seems to be no hope for these horses left and saves as man as they can to be re-homed into loving families each horse Bright Futures re-homes Now has a Bright Future ahead of them.

We had a horse that was in desperate need of a new home. Not only did Bright Futures farm step in to help when they were already over full, they found him the exact environment I had requested. I am happy to say that the horse today enjoys a very comfortable life as a lesson horse. he is well loved and well cared for.
