My son was in a car crash in 2011 which resulted in severe TBi. Another mother of a brain injured son told me about this group which had helped her & her son so much. Lisa Moss, the founder, is so supportive & she knows first hand the devastation of having a brain injured loved one. Informative packets are given. Monthly support groups help us feel not so alone. Being with others who understand what this is like is priceless. I always learn something new and receive valuable resource information. This organization is a God send & I am so grateful.

After sustaining my severe TBI, life was very unpleasant! For the first few years, things looked bleak for me. However, on October 21st, 2006 I attended my first Brainstorming meeting. Since I was unhappy with my current life, I was not too open to becoming a member of any group. I thought no one would be able to relate to me, no way. MY situation was different; I was different. Little did I know Brainstorming would later become a safe haven for me. I love my lady-founders, and couldn't imagine my life without them!

BrainStorming4Us has been an amazing life support for me and my family. On March 22, 2008,I was reborn (T.B.I. survivors refer to their injury date as a rebirth). Due to life basically starting all over again. I was asleep, when my husband heard sounds, and thought I was having a bad dream. When he turned on the lights, he realized I was having a seizure, and had bit my tongue. I also suffered a brain anuerysm, and stroke, before the ambulance arrived at my residence. After being hospitalized, my husband was told, I probably would not survive, due to my critical medical condition. This did not stop "God" from doing what he does best......Granting miracles, when all hope looks blick. From what I'm told there were numerous blick moments. Hospice was called in at one point, but I weathered the storm through God's grace. There was a point in time, when my husband was signing paperwork to have me air lifted to Loma Linda Hospital to have a stint placed in my head to survive. This was when the miracle of "God", and medicine prevailed. My left brain critical bleeding ceased. the doctors stated they have never seen or heard of this process ever occurring. At that point, I no longer needed surgery on my brain to save my life. My husband was told, I would more than likely be in a vegetative state, and or need around the clock care for the rest of my life. I'm here today after learning how to walk, talk, reading, after a second stroke due to receiving vicodin, even though the hospital was advised of my allergic reaction to this medicine. My mouth and rt hand were twisted. Lft side parcial paralysis. Short and long term memory loss, which I haven't overcome. I thank BrainStorming4Us for supporting me, and my family. We love you Lisa Moss. You made a huge impact on our lives.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Being able to regain my personal self worth, and appreciation. Learning to literally take one day at a time. Not being judged due to my T.B.I.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Having local government, and Washington listen to me and other T.B.I. survivor's need for acknowledgement, and funding for this traumatic medical condition. "Celebrate Life" If you think you can't you really must.. Families learn to heal out of despair

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The ability to surround myself with individuals, who have stood in my shoes...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

awesome individuals, that have generous hearts, and souls. They truly care about human compassion.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Lift another family's life with their immediate understanding of T.B.I.

Ways to make it better...

There was more excessable funding to help support their cause...The initial deliverance of their Trauma Bags.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Public awareness, due to lack of funds, and helping hands.

One thing I'd also say is that...

We have the same flaws and capabilities as anyone else. Our goal is not to believe that T.B.I.(Traumatic Brain Injury) survivors are disabled individuals, but to educate the public that we are normal, thriving, active human beings. We have the same hurdles.

Brainstorming was a true God send for us when our son suffered a serious TBI. We had just moved to the area and were completely lost and devestated in the world of TBI. Brainstorming was like a lighthouse, leading us to hope and understanding. They anwer questions, offer serious support, brought us prepared meals, and they give us a place to belong.

our everyday life. There were times when I had no idea how to handle situations that arose with TBI. Due to the support of the group, we made it through those times. I am convinced our outcome would not have been as good as it is without them.

Our son Anthony, had a tramatic brain injury from a motocross accident. He was in a coma when brought in from the track and was unresponsive for over 1 month. We got this briefcase from the hospital that came from Brainstorming4us with alot of info regarding brain injuries. It took me a little while to absorb the info, I was in such shock. I was like the info was written for us, easy to read and understand. My husband and I knew nothing about brain injuries. We were hoping he would just wake up. This information helped us more than the doctors ever could. We had a hard time understanding them. Our son spent 6 months in the hospital and more than a year in rehab. I am happy to announce he just graduated from high school a little less than two years after his accident. We thank Brainstorming 4 us so much!!

meeting with its founding members, who, like us have experienced tramatic brain injury though a family member. They are compassionate about there work, because like us they knew nothing about these injuries, and the hospitals give you no details.

When a loved one suffers a traumatic brain injury life as it was once known is instantly changed. At first there is only extreme fear and confusion, it is as though you cannot take in all the information at once, you have entered a stage of your life so filled with grief and fear that you can barely function. Brainstorming4Us was filled with people who understood and more importantly were ready and able to help with compassion and knowledge. There were so many members who reached out with love and real life answers to all of the questions we had regarding medications, therapies etc.. My family entered the world of TBI when my 17 year old son was horribly injured in a car accident and suffered his severe brain injury. The support group Brainstorming4Us has been a blessing to my family and especially to my son. Cathy Santos

My son was in a serious motorcycle accident in August of 2007. He suffered a traumatic brain injury as well as fracturing his C4 and C5 vertebrae. The experience was overwhelming! The gift of the essential items included in the Survival Bags brought more than just a little comfort in a horrific setting, it also made me realize that I was not alone and that there were others that knew exactly what I was dealing with. That knowledge gave me the strength to seek out those that supplied the Survival Bags and ultimately led me to the support group meetings that I attend regularly at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Although my son was admitted to Loma Linda Hospital I had not been informed about the support group. Once my son was home I realized that my entire family needed help with coping with my son's recovery from his TBI. The Survival Bag I received provided me with not only some initial comfort in the hospital, but also a link to a lifetime of assistance. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the founders of this wonderful organization. Their efforts provide a ray of sunshine into the lives of those in their darkest hours!
