This service planned, coordinated and implemented group activities that help stimulate and motivate their patients/client. We traveled to historic sites, hiking, cooking, newsletter production and other group activities. Being a part of this, inspired me, more than the patients, who already had a zeal to improve themseleves. I thoroughly enjoyed and am continuning to help my cousin who is still a part of the group.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Virginia, namely, the Southwest Brain Injury Group

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I don't know. The group that I was affliated with, thought of everything and how it would impact and affect others in the group and with ample notifications of each event.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the impact that the patients had on me and not the reverse. Their limitations were not a hinderance to them. They motivated the rest of us to not to take life for granted but to imbrace it.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very personalable and professional.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach out to others, who would not have a chance to work with this group. They have helped provide on the job training, In-home training and monitoring, access to Agencies that could help them, access to local agencies that could help them.

Ways to make it better...

I thorughly enjoyed myself and will continue to help.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding! FUNDING! FUNDING! FUNDING! FUNDING!

One thing I'd also say is that...

There are still others needing the services provided by Brain Injury Services, who are willing to step up and get the ball rolling to implement this program.

Brain Injury Services of SWVA has assisted our family member for 4 1/2 years. They have helped our family to navigate through the ups and downs of brain injury. In our case, our family member had a brain tumor removed, which left her with deficits. BISSWVA has helped us to understand ,as caregivers, how to assist and comfort our family member through her life changes, and helped her to gain confidence through therapy which has allowed her to gain independence. We could not have succeeded without their expertise and care. Please support this nonprofit organization.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Assisting my family member to receive services through other agencies such as the Department of Rehabilitative Services, getting equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, etc., and at home therapy through CLiC.

In my 4+ yrs of association with Brain Injury Services of SWVA, I have witnessed wonderful changes to those with brain injuries who are living fuller lives because of the services provided by this organization. No only do they provide free case management, but they work diligently to present opportunities for job training and (re)learning life skills to foster a more self-reliant lifestyle. Additional programs such as music therapy and recreational therapy have also been fostered in connection with BIS SWVA.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the innovated ways that they reach out to clients. In a predominantly rural area, it is difficult for clients to get around. The case managers meet with clients in their homes, if needed, and a program to reach clients via the internet is being tested.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

provide them with more resources to continue making a difference for more people (reducing their waiting list).

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

they put all thier efforts and money into helping those with brain injuries build better lives for themselves and their families.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extrememly helpful (and prone to working more hours than they get paid for to help their clients and promote awareness).

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

put all their efforts into helping others rather than looking/appling for funding. They would also be able to explore new ways of helping rural populations that could spill over to other services.

One thing I'd also say is that...
