Reviews for Boy Scouts Of America National Council

Scouting, and BSA in particular, holds a unique, honored place in the US. Scouting is essential to developing youth character, reliable adults, and our future leaders. By far, BSA runs on local volunteers... there are ~hundreds of unpaid adult leaders for every paid adult. By contributing to BSA at the national level, donors keep the freight-train rolling along providing continuity as volunteers come and go every year and enable adventures only a nation-wide organization can provide. Over the decades I've donated thousands of hours and dollars to this fine group - mostly locally but also at higher levels. Like all groups in the USA trying to serve millions of diverse persons, BSA has had it lumps over the last hundreds of years... but also many great achievements. Other than other nation-level Scouting organizations, I know of no other non-school groups that benefit our youth more.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

BSA should require each of its chartering organizations to sign an annual statement they have reviewed the financial accounts of their chartered Pack, Troop, Crew, etc in order to provide a second look to that volunteer groups books. (Each Pack, Troop, etc. is owned by that church, school, local civic group, etc. NOT BSA.) By doing this, BSA would encourage chartering organizations to adopt stronger internal financial controls and reduce the cases of volunteer treasurer's stealing/embezzling

overpaid executive. I think that if people actually took the time to review the tax return they would think twice about donating to the Boy Scouts of America. I personally will never give another penny to these scam artists. They should take a page from " A SCOUT IS THRIFTY ".

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

From tiger cubs to Eagle Scout, seen it all done it all, love the scouting way, do not love the greed mentality of the executives!!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get an all-volunteer based staff of former scouts to effectively run the day to day operations and with all the money saved invest in the future of new scouts instead of letting the dirtbags line their pockets!!!!
