Bonding Against Adversity is a great organization to Volunteer for. Marianas dedication to serving her community is transparent and motivates volunteers to do the same. I enjoy volunteering for the organization because I know I am truly making a positive change in the community.

In Aldine there are several low - income apartment community where there is a great amount of violence. After we have implemented the S.A.F.E program , violence in the apartment complex's decreased.

I do not feel like there needs to be a change to Bonding Against Adversity. Mariana is doing a remarkable job for our community.

Great way for families to bond together and have fun at the same time. Good healthy topics. I will be attending these meetings and gatherings more often once I'm retired. Already planning on joining in their health program.

I've noticed that customers are treated with respect. The fun dances for the teens are just one way of supporting the teens in continuing their education.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wish this organization would expand their services to other areas of Houston and not just the north side.

I am a volunteer in BAA's Dropout Prevention program. Being in this role has made me see the real value of BAA. Many children are benefiting by having mentors to go to with their school work and sometimes with their personal problems. As mentors we provide guidance to the students that will benefit them educationally and in every other aspect of their lives. Having someone to go to at the age of the students that are mentored in the BAA program is a great advantage to them not only in the moment but definitely in the future.

Designate officers to be responsible for specific activities, such as keeping up with daily or weekly report. This is something that is already being talked about in the program and will be worked on the be ready for the next semester.

I am Jan Winn, a local banker and Secretary-Treasurer of the Aldine Optimist Club. The Optimist Club opted to support BAA in its first year knowing Marianna's abilities. Marianna has been a moving factor in the Aldine area for several years serving the YMCA. Marianna has shown such energy and innovation in BAA in its first year. BAA has shown impressive results in working with the area youth. I am convinced that BAA is going to show even greater results as it grows. This is a group deserving of your financial support.

My name is Virginia Bazan and I am a volunteer in Aldine. I work with various organizations within my community and I have seen first hand how dedicated Mariana is to BAA. She has made such an enormous impact in the lives of countless people. She not only influences the people she serves through her many programs but even the lives of those who help her and those who know of her. She pours her own personal life experciences into all she does for all the people she serves. She works deligently to provide education which results in a better way of life. I am proud of BAA in our community and I am also a better person having meet and working along side Mariana. BAA is a organization that has long been needed. BAA is an organization that is strong because the founder is so sincere, humble and dedicated to it's cause.

I have seen how hard she fights to make the programs happen. I have gotten to know Mariana and she pours her heart and soul into BAA.

Ways to make it better...

She needs funds to keep making the programs happen. She is always beeing asked to take her programs to other schools and communities and unless she can fund the programs her service potential is stumped. Funds, funds and more funds are desperately needed. At the present time the funds are provided from her own personal money and she has to make many fundraisers as well. Keep in mind she does all this for free, in a community that needs BAA, she has no monetary pay.

Other than having more funds? Well being able to expand the programs to other areas in Aldine but this is not possible unless she has more money.

BAA is a model organization working for the wellness of Aldine residents. I have experienced first hand their commitment and endurance in providing high quality programs to benefit the community. A unique pearl that shines among unfeasible efforts from other institutions to keep students in school is the Preventing Dropout Program. In less than one year, this program have demonstrated that in order to keep students engaged and motivated, attention to the whole spectrum of their lives is a must.
I encourage public and private companies to support this organization to continue its enterprise to transform unbalanced systems into harmonic communities full of opportunities for success.

Hi, my name is Valeria Sequeira and I am a member of BAA. I am a mentor at Hambrick Middle school participating in the Drop Out Prevention Program and I am proud to be part of something that is genuinely there to help the community and these kids. It is BAA's first year and it is growing quickly and doing its best to help these students realize the value and importance of education. The program is doing a great job at helping students with their classwork and bringing up grades. But not only that, also teaching students responsibility and life lessons that these kids will carry with them on to high school. It is my first time ever volunteering and mentoring, and BAA has made this experience a great one.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in my own life.. becoming more organized, responsible. Seeing middle school students in a new light, as much more than just middle school children, as future success stories

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Introduce many more students into the program with the hope of every student getting the opportunity to experience the program.

Hi, My name is Tiffany Clark and I am student at the University of Houston. This is my first year working with BAA and words can't explain how enthusiastic I am about this organization. Upon first meeting with the executive director I could tell how passionate she was about the Drop Out Prevention Program and it only pushed me to strive to give my all. I have watched my mentee struggle in one of her classes to excel in her class, to get a 92% on her Taks exam, that is awesome. Programs such as BAA "are helping people help themselves" and is much needed in surrounding communities. With the help of volunteers such as myself we can hopefully have a branch in every area within the City of Houston. Again, I love what BAA is doing and I hope they continue to grow and build strong leaders in the community. Thank you!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've seen the results in this program through my relationship with my mentee and her grades change. I've listened to the conversations that the other mentors have with their kids asking them if they weren't involved in this program what would they be doing, and to know that we are keeping these kids out of trouble while building them up is great.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

If I had to make changes to this organization it would be to expand it into more schools. It's a great program and we need more programs like this in the school systems to keep the kids out of trouble. Aldine School District is just one areas, to concur the City of Houston would be outstanding and expose kids to college students.

As the President of the Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce, I have found BAA to be a great organization. BAA is filling needs and creating programs where there are currently gaps from existing programs. The Executive Director has great connectivity to the surronding business community and is very well respected. I support her program and am very proud of the work she and BAA has done and continues to do.
