This is Raakesh T an Information security Professional; I have been with Bhumi for 1+ year taking care of the installation, troubleshooting of hardware and software's for computers of the project Kanini. Bhumi procured about 120 + systems from an MNC which are gradually inducted to Kanini. This academic year, i too joined the league of teaching members of Kanini. Doesn’t our society lack Visionaries and Mentors was the question in me and this pulled me into the journey of these lovely kids who are in par in intelligence to any other kid in our country, But they just lack the opportunity to expand their vista of knowledge for their life and career. Bhumian’s have significantly introduced some unexplored world to these kids to fill in those fissures and I am happy to be part of them. These days Education have become a serious business and this have widen the reach for the kids of this calibre. So Bhumi have been with various projects to shape their future. Projects like Kanini, Career Counselling, and MAD are some of them. The whole world is really concerned about the climate and many nation have even failed on talks on these issues and Bhumi doesn’t believe in board room talks on environment rather we toil ourselves planting trees under the shade of “Think Green” Project. Though I toiled myself only for 2 months, I am happy for the reason the tree is growing. Though our effort is a drop in an ocean, we believe the wave generated by the impact drop might widen things to the unreachable.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The effort they take for the welfare of others .. its here i see the missing Humanism of our country.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Personally to say the volunteers and kids have been very often an inspiration and an eye opener.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

That would improve the future of many families.

The Bhumi experience has been very fulfilling and rewarding thus far. The organisation is honest and focussed, and is likely to change the world for the better.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

ensure that all neglected children get a fair chance.

The only NGO that i was ever involved with - BHUMI has shown that it doesnt take much too help ppl around us. My first brush with BHUMI was when one of my teammates was staying up late almost everyday to prepare pointers for her 'Little Einsteins'. Hearing her talk abt her work passionately showed me how selfish i was in spending my time. Now plannin to be a Volunteer with BHUMI, I am finally waiting for the day when ME, a pampered brat, will be of some use to my Society.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Passionate in their work

This organisation started by the youth of Chennai, has lived up to the expectation of a lot of children adopting more than 6 schools and helping them out. When I went to teach the children English, the enthusiasm shown by the students as well as the volunteers was incredible. I appreciate the hard work being put in, for the development of the children.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

when the children actually started learning english and began using it.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try bringing more volunteers.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the dedication of the volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extremely dedicated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do a lot more for the children. Its right now trying its best to get more people to sponsor.

Ways to make it better...

I spent more time teaching.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

sponsors.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Bhumi is the Best!

Being a Bhumian, we're a part of the change we wish to see in the country. Teaching english to school students and making them feel as special their urban counterpart is a great feeling in itself. We at bhumi educate people, plant trees and work for the environment with a positive approach.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

fund bhumi for its future endevours.

I have been regularly reading up on Bhumi's progress, and though not directly involved, receive updates on their latest initiatives. Bhumi's members are a very active, lively and committed team who have grown so quick in such a short span of time. It is inspiring for anyone who wants to be involved in social causes but wonders how and whether one can pull it off. With outstanding role models to learn from such as Bhumi, yes one can :-) Anu Chowdhry

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

it could open a million Bhumi's across India and change ten million more lives :-)

Bhumi has been doing some meaningful work in the lives of the under privilaged, especially children and young adults. I have been a keen follower of the organisation since its origin. Though rarely involved, I still believe they are doing an amazing work considerig the fact that the volunteers, most or all of them are busy full time professionals and students.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Education

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do nothing, its just good as it is.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

serious work with fun

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

cool

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do definately better

Ways to make it better...

I can give more of my time to it.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

man power and money

One thing I'd also say is that...

keep up the good work.

BHUMI... normal people meeting for a great causes... the awakening of the GEN neXt in chennai... bhumi has played a major role... i was there for the orientation jus 2months ago.. i had talked to bhumians before i joined about my ideas of making student's career better... when i was at the orientation, i was appreciated and recognized... we had a chance to discuss about our idea.. i was part of CC and MAD at chennai.. they made me realize wat real life is.. we usually don't differentiate between giving a life and giving a living ... they made me understand the difference, i learned many things from bhumi's openings and activities it has always been mutual.. unfortunately i have not been able participate actively, but even now when i get involved in any social cause... bhumi is famous every where, for the work we do.. for every up coming NGO, bhumi is more than example.. its a ROLE MODEL>> PROUD TO BE A BHUMIAN...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

recognition

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

world class... beyond words,, energetic and experienced

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

ll use part of the money to spend a noon with AUTO drivers of the city, telling them why they should switch off vehicles at red signals.. ll educate unprivileged make students understand wy they should chase their dream, not money
