I came to the Beacon House after 22 years of active drug and alcohol addiction and criminal behavior. I had spent 10 years of my adult life and 4 of my adolesence in correctional facilities for drugs and violence. The Beacon House took my sliver of willingness to change and transformed it into a man of character who is honest, gentle and kind. I owe my life to this place and could not give back in two lifetimes what they have given me, but i'm gonna try.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My life and personal character. I came there homeless, jobless, running from the law and possessing nothing but the clothes on my back. I am now gainfully employed in the Human Services field, a college graduate, and a Father my daughter looks up to.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Create more beds to help more men.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Watching men come in broken and leave whole.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

persistant, relentless, caring, dedicated

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the World.

Ways to make it better...

I knew there were more facilities like this

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

how they're paying the bills every year

One thing I'd also say is that...

The hand of God protects and cares for this place.

Beacon House of San Pedro is a one of a kind program that saved my life from the alcholic hell I was living in prior. They showed me how to live sober and help other men along the way. Thanks to Beacon House I now have a chance of becoming the person God has intented me to be. I am now a full time student and going on five years of sobrity.

The Beacon House Association of San Pedro is a treatment facility for men who are suffering from alcohol and drug addiction. I know this because I am one of those men who suffers from this disease and is a current resident of this program. I found my way here by another set of circumstances which led me to a friend dropping me off, them being tired of me sleeping on their couch! As funny as this might sound it is a way of life that I had been involved in for a number of years. You see, I take advantage of people around me. Not only that I go in and out of prison, abandon my kids, involved with gangs. That was me then, this is me now-responsible person in the community, reunification with my kids, chasing a career in welding, and most important to me is being a good example to those who are around me. All this I owe to the Beacon House for providing me with the safe environment necessary for one who suffers from a disease to get the help they need.Thank You.

I experience the results of this program everyday. My life is filled with a sense of purpose today that I have not felt in a long time. The journey I am on is made pleasant by the experiences I have on a daily basis.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The feeling of being a positive in someones life.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Patient and understanding. They make time for you on an individual basis. Ready to help.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand its facility and staff to help more men.

The Beacon House Association of San Pedro is a wonderful organization that I owe my life to. Lost, hopeless with drugs and alcohol my solution for life and having a life on the streets awaiting me I made it to the Beacon House. They provided me with a safe place to learn what my real problem is and gave me the tools necessary to live a healthy and productive life without drugs and alcohol. I was given the opportunity to obtain an associates degree which led me to a great job and reconciliation with my children; which includes my youngest daughter living with me! The Beacon House not only repairs men it also provides needed support for the community by providing assistance that increases the well being for all the people in the local area and throughout the city. I now have 7 years clean and sober and continue to participate with helping the Beacon House assist men with getting a real life and support the community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have also seen the respect of community members and leaders for the work that the Beacon House does as well as family members and loved ones that have received their men back into their lives better than ever.

When i was at a point in life where I realized I no longer had any answers I was able to turn to the Beacon House for help. Not only did they give me a safe place, I finaly found a place I could be honest about who I was. They introduced me to a new way to live. I am currently over 7 years clean and sober, recieved an associates degree and am going to college to be a registered nurse. The Beacon House continues to be a place where I can get any and all help I could possibly want. It is a home to many people but only thoes who want to be a better person reap it's full benifits. I went to the beacon house 2 years ago a broken man. I had no hope for a better life. after a year in the primary program my life has changed dramattically. I have my family back in my life, I'm going back to school and i have a set of principles that I live by. I've truly been shown a new way to live from the guys in the beacon house association. There is no other place i've ever been to or heard of that even comes close to the way the beacon house changes lives and what they give back to the community is unparaleled. I'm forever greatful to the beacon house and those who help make it possible for the house to do what it does.

The Beacon House is a drug and alcohol treatment facility, and I was addicted to meth. They provided me with sufficient counsiling, all my meals for at least a year, and a safe place to live.

The reason I am living a purpouseful life today is the result of my having been so very fortunate for my association both as a resident and alumni of the Beacon House. I landed at the Beacon House a broken, pathetic man. I was fearful of life as I had lived it as an alcoholic and addict over 30 years and had no idea how to live life on life's terms. The Beacon House welcomed me, embraced me, guided me, nurtured me, and helped me become a man of principle - filled with love and purpose. My gratitude to the House is immeasureable and I hope to continue to help it and the men there as much as they have and continue to help me.

I have personally experience the results of this organization in my daily life. My recovery and vocation are based on the direction I received from staff as well as the inspiration, support, and encouragement from the Beacon House during my stay.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I am an alumni of the Beacon House and now work in the field of recovery and have not seen or know of any other program as genuinely concerned with the recovery and continued quality of life for the resident who arrives and recovers at Beacon House.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

The staff and volunteers I met at the Beacon House had no motive except to help me and the other men who wanted to change, to live, and to be part of something in life that was good.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

What could the Beacon House do with 10 million bucks? It could do a lot of good if those who handled it remained as principled as the men who are in the program.
