I have been a bat conservation supporter for over 15 years and discovered Bat World in late 2011. Not only is their educational material excellent, they're also very helpful about supplying these materials en masse for distribution. Obviously, they're serious about getting the message across: bats deserve our help and the time is now! (Their adoption packages are also thoughtfully put together and beautiful.)

My husband called me from work one day last summer, to tell me he'd found a tiny little bat (turned out to be an Eastern Pipistrelle), curled up near a light fixture in a long hallway (in a huge industrial building). I found the Bat World Sanctuary information online, and the volunteer I spoke with gave us specific information on how to pick it up and transport it safely. Unfortunately the little guy didn't make it (it appeared he'd been trapped for a long time and was barely alive when he found it), but God bless all these wonderful volunteers that do so much to save these precious creatures!

I live in Woodstock, NY. Last year a bat got into our house, and my horrible cats got a hold of it. Luckily, I knew what to do with it, as I am a parttime wildlife rehabilitator. After I'd put it in a dark box with terry cloth for holding on to, I emailed Batworld. I knew about them because they put out an excellent "what to do if you find a bat" placard, which I keep handy. In any case, Amanda got back to me, and gave me so much help, I couldn't believe it. She also helped me find someone locally. After a day, I was able to successfully release the bat. If all our bats are not wiped out by White Nose Syndrome, I hope to be able to train at Batworld to become a bat rehabilitator. They are such lovely and misunderstood animals. Thank you so much to Amanda for the work she does.

I'd called her because I had on hand materials from batworld about rescuing bats. The materials were so well-thought-out, and there were also materials geared towards
kids, which were very well done.
Thank you so much Amanda,

Bat World Sanctuary is truly a Godsend for this world. The way that they educate people about bats is truly a miracle. Bats are extremley essential to the ecosystem and Bat World goes above and beyond with the tools they offer to educate anyone who asks. They have a facebook page, if anyone asks a question to their page the response from Bat World is almost immediate. Without an orginazation like them Bats would be in trouble, a lot more trouble then they already are. My only wish is that they had more facilities up north. There are several people I know personally that go looking for injured bats and really have no place close to go with them. That's one reason why their website is great. You can go to it and find a person near you that helps rehabilitate bats. They offer the opportunity to "adopt" a bat. This is great for people who want to help but aren't near by to volunteer. I have had great personal experience dealing with Bat World Sanctuary. I am one proud parent of "Gimlet." Their website has allowed me the opportunity to educate my friends, family and co-workers about the importance and necessity of bats. Thank You Bat World Sanctuary for everything you do to help out a truly misunderstood but essential creature. A bat may not be cute, cuddly or loveable at first glance. Bat World has made people "look again" and discover just how adorable bats are.

Each year, my students collect pennies to sponsor bats at Bat World Sanctuary. Initially, my students think that bats are creepy, rabid, disease filled creatures that deserve death. Thanks to Amanda Loller and Bat World Sanctuary, my students learn how beneficial bats are to our world. Without the positive information from Bat World Sanctuary and Amanda's love of bats, more of these creatures would be destroyed and misunderstood. We live in a riparian/desert habitat with many different species of bats that are constantly being killed by those who misunderstand them. Amanda's love for these little critters helps the world to understand how important these animals are to the earth's survival. I love visiting her website with my class and really appreciate the work she is doing to help bats.

I am an elementary school teacher. I love biology. I was troubled when some students destroyed a cave full of bats in my neighborhood by throwing water balloons full of bleach in the cave. Most of the bats were killed. On poor little fellow managed to land above the doorway to my classroom. Due to ignorance and superstition, a parent complained and wanted the bat killed by the custodian of our school. The custodian was going to kill the bat and I did the only thing that I could think of. I grabbed a fish tank and a towel and climbed up on a chair before anyone could do anything and captured the little tiny bat. I don't recommend that anyone else do this but I didn't know what else to do and time was rapidly running out for this small bat. I was actually terrified but did not want anyone to know that. I was able to contact the people at the Bat World Sanctuary and they gave me the names of couple in my area who would help me with this little bat. I thought it was a baby because its body was no bigger than my thumb. I bought some canned kitten milk from the local pet store and the poor dear reluctantly drank the milk from an eye dropper. He didn't like it too much but didn't complain. I eventually got this little bat to the experts and they told me so much that I didn't know. If it had not been for the Bat World Sanctuary, I would have done this little guy a great disservice and may have even caused him harm. Since that day I make it my mission to make sure that every one of my students and their parents completely understand all there is to know about bats and their welfare. I am happy to say that without the Bat World Site, I would be clueless. I am happy to say that a few thousand kids are wiser in their knowledge of bats because of Amanda's tireless work. I will continue to educate people on the value and importance of bats in our world and I am grateful that Amanda and others have done so much to help me to understand BATS!

Bat World Sanctuary has been wonderful to keep us up to date on their activities. They have a great program to help bats and they are very open about what they are doing. As with anything, if people are unaware of a need to help they don't; so this organization is playing a vital role in raising awareness about the plight of bats. They have wonderful educational information about the vital roles various species of bats play within their ecosystems. Overall, this is an excellent program with great benefits to the bats and to us humans.

I attended Bat Boot Camp more than 10 years ago and learned invaluable information about bats. But more than that, I learned what a person truly devoted to bats looks like: Amanda Lollar. Amanda and Bat World are crucial for bats in North America. In addition to the professional and loving care she provides the bats in her care, she and her book on bat rehabilitation are tremendous resources for those of us trying to help bats. Bat World needs all the help available!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Large and small ways. Amanda has helped me learn how to assist bats who have been injured. She has also given me many constructive ideas about how to improve the presentations I give to children.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Have people who could relieve Amanda so that she could actually take a vacation.

Hello~ I am a animal lover & I was so impressed with the sharing of knowledge by Bat World Sanctuary that I "Adopted" one of the Bats for my daughters 4th grade class this past year! The class was THRILLED with all the information & photos of the Bat they adopted. By providing us with the tools to spread the positive word of Rescue & Rehab of bats (& all animals for that matter)to these children ignites a lifelong passion to learn of animals, even if we have been afraid of them, and to help them thrive. This classes experience has opened the door for OTHER classes to get involved with Rescue & Rehab! YAY!!!
