Amanda Loller and her amazing devotion, dedication, and sheer hard work has been an inspiration for me! Since finding her site and reading every word she ever writes, I have become an avid supporter of Bat World Sanctuary, and our little flying mammals. So much so, that my family has built a "Bat Condo" at our river property (see Amanda's Spring 2011 issue, "Chrioptominium"). Amanda's knowledge is truly amazing and she gladly shares with all! I urge everyone to support the Bat World Sanctuary. No other place like it anywhere, and she makes it happen! Inspiring!

I found a bat in my front yard and needed help. After finding Bat World Sanctuary on the web, I was lucky enough to discover that I had two rescue centers located close to me, Bat World LoneStar and Bat World Midcities. I ended up calling both centers and left messages for help. Within minutes they both called me back and the little bat was saved. It turned out to be a young bat who was trying to migrate but was just to skinny keep going. They even called me back to let me know he would be fine!

I would create a giant press release to spread the word, so more people would be aware that Bat World is out there and doing a fantastic job in saving animals that no one else seems to care about.
I have had the pleasure of working with Bat World Sanctuary for 10 years now in the field of wildlife rehabilitation. The organization and president Amanda Lollar are an invaluable resource for bat care. They go to great lengths to help others find appropriate help fopr bats in need of rescue. I know that everyone in the organization will respond to a rehabilitator in need, no matter how busy they are because many of those desperagte phone calls have come from me!
BWS cares for hundreds of bats and provides permanent care for animals that can't be returned to the wild. They advocate tirelessly to keep bats out of the pet trade, to keep bats from being killed out of fear and superstition, and to raise awareness of the desperate plight of wild bats all over the world.
Without the support of BWS, I would never have been able to work with bats on my own. The support they provide the wildlife rehabilitation and conservation community is immeasurable.

Add additional staff so the all volunteer organization had the luxury to present at conferences, provide more training venues, produce more educational materials. Unfortunately, there is rarely enough funding to hire staff for most small nonprofits, no matter how worthy.

As a licenced/permitted wild-life rehabber I can say it isn’t easy to find an organization with this much dedication to their cause. Bat World is always a step ahead when it comes to disease research and optimizing care while keeping in mind that these are living beings that have needs, wants and (indeed) feelings. Educating both the public and governmental agencies about bats is a cornerstone of Bat World’s foundation. Considering the ongoing plight of our winged comrades we need Bat World now more than ever before!

This is a fantastic organization! The hard work and dedication is simply unmatched by anyone anywhere and I do not say that lightly. For the President of Bat World to come from no knowledge and one bat to what there is today is nothing short of phenomenal. The fact that the animals at Bat World are treated with actual care, alone, makes them able to brush most other animal establishments off the table. But that these care giving methods produce such amazing results and healthy animals that not only exist but THRIVE for over a decade when zoos, etc. cannot get the same creatures to live more than a few years, is simply miraculous. Without exaggeration, Bat World Sanctuary is THE leader in bat care on this planet.

The return on investment with this organization. Your money really goes where it's supposed to with Bat World, to the animals and their care.

A great cause that produces so many great results; help for the animals, education to the care givers and all the people they teach and train, help for our environment (the animals that are released back into the wild).

When I got in my first bat, in rehab, I started to seek information from people throughout my State, only to learn that no one really had any idea of how to properly care for a bat. Luckily I found Amanda Lollar and she helped me out with her seemingly limitless knowledge of these precious little animals. Being lucky enough to have attended one of her Boot Camps, make me realize how compassionate and dedicated she is to the bats, educating others about bats and a genuine concern for each and every life that comes through her doors. Her expertise far surpassed anything I had seen in any other "rehab" setting. I was honored to learn under her.

expand to create a responsible center in each and every State but I realize responsible people are hard to come by.
Amanda Loller, Executive Director of Bat World, is brilliant with regards to the captive care of bats. Knowing the natural history of bats is far different than knowing how to apply that knowledge to save their lives under the most adverse of circumstances. She is a pioneer in bat rehabilitation. I have 16 years of experience working in the field of wildlife rehabilitation, but by far, the encouragement and training offered by Ms. Loller at Bat World Sanctuary has been the most inspirational and educational. Her love and knowledge of these special animals transpires into anyone that has the priviledge of speaking with her. Bat World Sanctuary is at the forefront of changing the world's view of this keystone species, at a time when it's needed most, and assisting those working on the front lines to save bats in trouble. I am most honored to write a glowing review of the benefits that this organization provides.

Seeking guidance on bat rehabilitation as well as other knowledge with regards to White Nose Syndrome and its effects on bat populations.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would expand its budget and funding to include the management of captive colonies of species at risk due to White Nose Syndrome. There is no other institution in the United States better qualified to manage such captive colonies. Other well-known institutions with far less experience in the daily care of bats have proven it with their failures.
As a Master Gardener and a Pennsylvania resident, I am doing what I can to educate people on the huge benefits that bats provide. During my reading about the decimation of bat populations due to White Nose Syndrome, I encountered the Bat World Sanctuary website. As I read the many ways this particular nonprofit assists rehabbers, general public and various agencies, I was dumbfounded to learn that this started with Amanda Lollar's encounter with an bat many years ago. The dedication this woman has shown to educate, learn and share knowledge in the rehabilitation of insectivorious bats proves the 'power of one'. I have had the chance to peruse her manual to help give bats a chance to survive and be released.
I have spoken to her on the phone several times when I needed to order materials for a 4H group presentation as well as sponsoring some of the bats who call this Sanctuary their home. I found a warm, caring individual who inspires others to try to do all that can be done in the face of misunderstanding of the valuable mammal who inhabits our world. I can only hope to emmulate the tenacity and drive Amanda has in finding funding, donations and supportors for this very worthy entity. If larger animal based non-profits could run on the shoestring budget that Bat World Sanctuary does and does half the good, it would be a miracle.
Because of the work done by the dedicated volunteers and hardcore supporters, many bats call this place home for as long as they have and many, many bats who would normally die are saved by the hands of those who studied at Bat Bootcamp. I can only hope to have the honor to attend a Bootcamp, to one day meet Amanda in person and to serve as a volunteer, even if for a day or a week at an organization that is ONE OF THE BEST IN THE UNITED STATES.

The information shared between people across the globe and having helped transport an injured bat to a rehabber, I have seen the dedication, knowledge and willingness to give every small life a chance at healing and living. Every bat matters to this dedicated group of people and they put forth their all in what they do.

I don't know if I'd change this organization, other than to change the public's perception on the benefits that bats provide and how this organization does the GREAT work it does.
I was doing wildlife rehabilitation in another state when I became aware of Bat World Sanctuary. Amanda Lollar and the volunteers at BWS became an invaluable resource for me as well as bat rehabbers around the world.
As years passed, knowing that the money I've donated has been used for the purpose intended - the care of sick, injured or orphaned bats - and not for luxurious offices and perks for executives and their staff has restored my faith that there are people who will give of themselves for a cause they believe in, even in the face of mounting difficulties.
The wholesale deaths of bats, vital parts of a healthy environment, from the plague of White Nose Syndrome is terrifying. Bat World Sanctuary will do all that can be done to help save affected species. Lollar and BWS volunteers will need every bit of monetary support they can get to aid them in their efforts. They'll have mine and I encourage everyone to support them. Please help them save bats.
