I am a parent that felt like my world turn upside down when my child was diagnosed with Sickle Cell at 6 weeks old. I was blessed to become a family at Base Camp.My son is now 7 yrs old and living a great life through his ups and down days. The staff and volunteers are awesome at BASE CAMP. They provide services to children with all blood disorders. My children look forward to yearly events like Christmas in July, Christmas parties and a Host of other events. One thing I must say about Base Camp is that they really make every family feel special. They also go out of their way to support families in crisis going through cancer treatments and other blood disorders. This organization is one of the best Non- Profits in Central Florida.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
This organization as grown with families over the years. The have also provided a variety of services with limited funds. The recently was able to relocate and have a central office.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would certainly try to fund raise as much as possible to assure that BASE CAMP events continue. Theis organization does a great job looking for funds I am sure, but with this econmony it is a challenge I must expect.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I have enjoyed seeing children smile, dance, play and laugh. I have enjoyed seeing staff like Terry and Ms. D very dedicated to the organization.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Staff that always present in a professional caring manner. The have great college volunteers and survivors of cancer and other disorders that assist as a way of giving back to the community.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Assist clients to assure kid get need treatment, It could plan events without funding being an issue. It would host more events for patients that are home bound to enjoy. It could actually have a site that would have full time staff available.
Ways to make it better...
I can not think of anything that could be better, but if this organization had more funding, I am sure the would do more to asssit many families fighting Blood disorders.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Funding. They need more funding and sponsors.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I truly love the caring and heart filled spirit that BASE CAMP organization displays. BASE CAMP's mission stands for so much. They truly want to see children smile, get medical treatment and enjoy the good days and get through the bad days.
