My kids have enjoyed hundreds of hours in this beautiful place. They have learned about nature and developed a true respect, as well as, a sense of responsibility, for it. And this was all taught in the most agreeable of ways, truly by example. The staff at Baltimore Woods all share the most profound love of nature and it is so appealing that you just want to be a part of that world.

My son began his nature career by attending an Explorer group at CNE-BW over a span of a few years; he eventually graduated from SUNY ESF (Environmental Sciences & Forestry) and recently started his own tree care business. I have attended a number of their events pertaining to wildflowers, maple sugaring, the log cabin, music, wildlife, tree identification and most recently the "save the bees" event to support moving out the hive in the walls without hurting the bees. The talks and exhibits were fascinating and the honey tasting a real taste bud opener! The trails are well maintained and always a pleasure. The center volunteers are always friendly and helpful. They also host many green education events for the community. CNE-BW is inspirational as well as gratifying.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue the good work.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing how my son has blossomed from his experience there.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

always friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpfu.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide a coordinated outreach to integrate various natural areas in the region within it's current model and set up green programs for enviro care for a larger community.

Ways to make it better...

Syracuse weather were more reliably nice.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

maintaining funding.

One thing I'd also say is that...

continued outreach that involves ever more people in their daily lives is the way to make a lasting improvement for our world.

All three of our children have attended nature day camp at Baltimore Woods. Through camp and the terrific professional counselors, they have learned to enjoy the natural world and have grown with a strong environmental stewardship ethic. Our nieces, nephews, and friends have attended the camp as well.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Bring its programs to more people, especially in urban areas where kids don't have access to this sort of thing.

Ways to make it better...

Baltimore Woods had more resources to do their work in the community.

Baltimore Woods (Centers for Nature Education) offers a respite in my busy world--the trails provide an intimate experience with nature. One of my favorite things to do is to fill the porch bird feeders and spread sunflower seed along the porch railing, then sit and watch the parade of birds and small mammals join me as we eat our lunch together. Baltimore Woods is a magical place and it serves so many different people! The hiking trails are terrific and cover beautiful and varied terrain. In the spring, the wildflowers are breathtaking to behold. I have taken some of my very favorite pictures there. The interpretive center is a great place to see a program, listen to a bluegrass band or play birds and bugs bingo with my family. My daughters have loved attending nature day camp, and this year, my older daughter is looking forward to being a counselor in training at one of her favorite places on earth. Baltimore Woods is a little gem that has a special place in my heart. It is well run, carefully managed, and lovingly tended not only by the paid staff who do a great job, but also by a huge staff of dedicated volunteers. My family and I are proud to be members of Baltimore Woods.

Baltimore Woods Centers for Nature Education is an excellent place to visit. My family and I have walked along the trails many times and have always enjoyed ourselves. There are several options for trail routes which makes each walk interesting. Addtionally, my son has attending many camps offered during all seasons and always comes home with a smile on his face at the end of each day.
