Please, where is my long heartfelt pro- Ballona Werland review?
30 minutes of sweating it out on a tiny iPod Touch. It seems this program did not like my password & stage name (?)(term). Can you retrieve it?

The Ballona Institute is dedicated to preserving the wetlands to sustain native habitat for butterflies, birds, animals and insects. Marcia and Roy, co-directors of the Ballona Institute are amazing and dedicated individuals who give back to the community by conducting free nature tours and organizing school groups to participate and learn about ecosystems. "THUMB'S UP!" Check out Ballonainstitute.org

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing restored habitat attracting native and rare species.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try for more publicity - they are AmAZiNg!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing natural habitats restored and native species thriving because of the efforts of the Ballona Institute.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

AmAZinG!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

restore fragile habitats and involve school children in learning about saving ecosystems.

Ways to make it better...

everyone in the city were involved!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

publicity needed to highlight and promote the great work being accomplished.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Volunteering for the Ballona Institute has been a rewarding experience. I've learned so much about the local eco system, and about plants. I have enjoyed listening to Marcia and Roy talk to kids & young adults about being responsible to our planet. The kids and young adults also seem to like getting involved and having hands on experience by planting the native grasses and shrubs. The Knowledge that Roy Van de Hoek passes on to everyone that volunteers is priceless!!! The Ballona institutes free and nature tours are very enjoyable for all ages.

I am an educator who made it a priority to work with my students in a half-acre nature center at school. As part of environmental science, students learned organic gardening and also participated with the Ballona Institute in various activities designed to restore wetlands. I was one of the group leaders of the activities, which included a nature walk, building a nature trail, restoring a sand dune, picking up litter brought by storm drains to the estuary, and nature art in the park. I worked with the Ballona Institute to encourage the City of Los Angeles to trade a vacant city property to a developer in exchange for a parcel called Egret Park which he wanted to develop. Such a development would adversely affect wetland wildlife. The Ballona Institute provides nature walks with a biologist several times each month, in addition to sponsoring community restoration projects and mentoring local high school students in wetland restoration.

I've personally experienced the results of the Ballona Institute in my classroom with my students. They have studied La Ballona in environmental science and the Tongva tribe in Social Studies. My students learned to love and protect nature.

If I had to make changes to the Ballona Institute, I would figure out a way that it would be adequately compensated monetarily as a non-profit for all the work it does for the environment and the community.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization is another organization sponsored by developers who wants to bulldoze the wetland area.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Ballona Institute works tirelessly to educate the community and students in the best ways to work with nature for wildlife preservation and restoration.
