I run an internet magazine and have worked with the Balch Springs Arts Alliance on a few events and I have seen first hand how much they work towards benefiting the city. They support our local Youth and work very hard to bring a wonderful program of arts & entertainment to the citizens of Balch Springs.

I have been to many of the performances of the Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance. It's a mixture of seasoned and unseasoned performers. We have been able to watch the younger ones grow in cofindence and their performances are better each time. I have a smile on my face and laughter in my heart after each show. They are an asset to our community. Thanks to all of them for bringing "art" to our little city.

I've watched the younger performers grow with each new show.

Move the location back to a location that was either downstairs or had an elevator. I haven't been able to attend since they moved to their "Roxy Theater" location. I'm on a walker and I can't make it up the stairs on a walker and the elevator doesn't work.

I just love to see their productions. They use a number of youth along with professionals in their shows. That way the youth can learn about acting, singing, dancing, etc. And they can perform on stage.

They also offer classes in art, dance, drama, singing, guitar, photography. This is a real boost for a community that has no other programs like this. And for those children whose families can't afford classes they offer scholarships so everyone has an opportunity.

I just wish they offered country dance lessons. I love to dance. Until they do I will keep going to their shows.

I've seen youth, who had never been onstage before, work with these professionals, and by the end of the rehearsals when they finally performed for an audience...the transformation in the youth's outlook was amazing!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would add country dance classes or other social dance classes for adults.

I've attended several performances of the Balch Springs Visual and Performing Arts Alliance. They work with local youth to teach them theatre and singing skills. Some of these youth had never been onstage before or in front of an audience. Participating in the rehearsals and the shows really gave them a lot of confidence. One highschool student has really changed. When he first got involved he was a little angry all the time. Now he seems to be happer. He's learned to express himself better so he's not holding 'it in' all the time.

This is also the first arts organization in Balch Springs and a big asset to the community. The only drawback is that there is no newspaper in the city so it's difficult to get the word out about programs and performances. If they can find a way to promote themselves better they will be able to serve more people.

I'm looking forward to their 2011 programs.

I saw a highschool youth transform from an angry young man into someone who seems to really enjoy everything more.

I would help them market themselves better. There's no city newspaper or central gathering place so it's hard to advertise.
