Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education, Scholarships, Scholarships & Student Financial Aid, Secondary & High Schools

Mission: Our organization’s mission is to empower girls with high school education by building better school infrastructure and ensure that they are given the opportunities to succeed in life by the time they leave our school. Many rural girls have no access to high school education in Cameroon for a lack of appropriate infrastructure. By building its own school, Aumazo, Inc. will help girls stay in school by providing them with an environment conducive to learning, an environment that nurtures their capacities to make a difference in their lives and in their communities.

Results: Our first school is under construction in the rural village of Bankondji in Cameroon. To date, much progress has been made in promoting the school to the regional community. In 2012, after establishing the ZOMA the construction company which revenue will sustain the operating costs of the school, we completed the library/study building and built concrete slab floors for the entire school building. In 2013, we also benefited from a continued Pro Bono Consulting Service at George Washington University. In 2014 and in collaboration with the RM Sovich Architecture firm based in Baltimore, Maryland, we worked on the new school design that is relevant to the rural environment. The same year, we established an ongoing working partnership with the Barrie School in Silver Spring.

Target demographics: Disadvantaged Rural Girls in Cameroon/Africa

Direct beneficiaries per year: 8 families regain their financial freedom by providing job at our construction site

Geographic areas served: International

Programs: Aumazo is building safe and welcoming boarding schools for girls, with well-equipped classrooms, adequate sanitation facilities, a gymnasium, a library/study and computer room. Access to a better infrastructure and an improved school environment for young women means: increased safety, a reduction in dropouts, improved learning, higher self-esteem, more self-worth, and the development of our future leaders.

Aumazo, Inc. represents hope to many young African women in Cameroon who would otherwise remain uneducated and trapped in life with no future. Thanks to this NGO, young women in Cameroon will be afforded the opportunity to get an education and engage with the world around them in a completely different way: confident, open-minded, resourceful, and ambitious. I have seen the commitment and dedication leaders of the NGO have demonstrated in their efforts to bring opportunities to the young women of Cameroon. Such efforts deserve the support of all those who believe in the education of women around the world, in general, and that of women in Africa, in particular. Please give a helping hand to a young African woman in Cameroon by supporting Aumazo.

Aumazo contacted Aguayuda to provide clean water to the whole community of Bankondji. This shows that Aumazo is not only looking at their focus area - education - but also at the larger picture to help Bankondji break the cycle of poverty.

I was contacted by Aumazo in September 2009 because they saw the need to not only provide education to Bankondji but also safe drinking water. It did not take long to notice the enthusiasm and commitment Jacqueline and Francis have to provide a better future for the community of Bankondji. Aumazo is not stopping at their mission to provide higher education for the girls in Bankondji but they also are looking for additional ways to improve the conditions of the community. Due to the engagement and personal commitment of Jacqueline and Francis and their onsite contact Sylvester, we at Aguayuda took on the project to provide safe drinking water to the community. We are very proud that we can support this excellent organization by working together to provide a better life to the 5,000 people in Bankondji. At a site visit to Bankondji, we experienced the dire need for quality education for girls and safe drinking water first hand. I am proud to be able to support Aumazo in helping the people of Bankondji who struggle on a daily basis.

I write to stress the importance of Aumazo Inc. in helping young women from rural Cameroon and Africa in general to gain access to quality education. I have been inspired and transformed by the works of Jacqueline Tchouassi Audige, founder of Aumazo Inc. I first came to know Jacqueline as my student at the University of Maryland, College Park five years ago. At that time, Jacqueline was already beginning to design and develop her dream to build a secondary school for girls in Bankondji, Cameroon. A native Cameroonian, Jacqueline knows first hand the challenges that girls, particularly from rural areas, face in pursuing secondary education. Research consistenly shows that educating girls betters the lives not only of the young women educated, but of their future families, and of nations on the whole. Aumazo Inc. is the creation of a tireless and dedicated woman who strove to create the circumstances that she herself lacked when an adolescent girl. Her own efforts and the educational successes that those efforts brought have only made her more determined to create opportunities for hundreds of young women in need. I cannot stress enough the continued determination and devotion of Jacqueline Tchouassi Audige, and how Aumazo Inc is the result of that unwavering dedication. Within only five years, Aumazo has already began the construction of the secondary school in Bankondji, is already involved in ensuring that running water is installed in Bankondji, and continues to identify and establish the necessary relationships to help the community. I urge you to consider the vital importance of Aumazo Inc. in the ungoing struggle to educate young women across the world.
