Despite numerous attempts I cannot get the Atlanta Mission to remove me from their mailing list. I made a small donation to them a few years ago on behalf of a third party and now receive on average a mailing a week. They've long ago eaten up any money I donated and refuse to stop sending additional solicitations despite multiple emails and phone calls.

Definitely think leader of this non profit is out of touch with the true issues of homelessness. All of the money is NOT going to this charity!

The leader of this organization seems out-of-touch with the real needs of the people; Too much funding going into a few people pockets and not enough into the program. There needs to be a leader who understands social problems and who are in touch with the challenges of poor people.

I have been taking a group of men down to the AUM to serve b'fast every other Thursday for the last year. I sit with the men and listen to their situation. I try to encourage them with prayer and a kind word. It is more of a blessing for me than it is for them. The staff are individuals going through the progam. They are empathetic and responsive to the needs of the folks just joining the program. I see God at work at the Mission in so many different ways. All are blessed who come in contact with the program.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

that I have been volunteering to serve breakfast for about a year.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

pay the staff more.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

getting to know the men in the program. I learn so much from them.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

positive individuals working on their own spiritual walk.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach more folks, expand staff and improve programs.

Ways to make it better...

I had more money to give the organization.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

raising awareness and funds.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am so glad that the leadership is so dedicated in what they do.

I have been involved with AUM for over a decade. It is truly hard to explain the sense of fullfillment that I receive when I hear the testimony of those men and women who have fallen through societies' saftey net and were in dispair until their life was turned around because they encountered Christ through AUM. They know that they are loved and worthwhile. This changes everything. AUM provides emergency relief, but even more important, hope

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

visiting the various centers for men and women has given me a chance to meet the clients and talk to them to discover just how critical the AUM is to helping the most needy in our society

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

expand the program scope to provide assistance to families. Today the facilities only accomodate Men in certain facilities and Women and children in the others

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Meeting the clients, learning their story, and being blessed by the experience

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

great Christians who consider their roll to be not just a job, but a calling from God to help others. They are dedicated and competent.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

could help a lot more people. The organization has capital needs to improve programs. It also could use capital to grow the Thrift stores business which would generate program income for many years to come

Ways to make it better...

I spent more time in volunteer activities. My experience is always positive. I always receive more than I expect in terms of blessings. Perhaps the best way to to enhance the experience would be to devote more time to AUM

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The challenge for AUM is to get the message out that while they do give emergency care to the clients, they are even more involved with helping the clients break the chains of addiction and reenter society as productive citizens

One thing I'd also say is that...

The Mission is a good steward of the gifts and support that the people of Atlanta and Georgia provide to them. There is very little govenment suport. This is truly supported through the generosity of the good people of Georgia.

I began by serving on the Atlanta Union Mission Board in 1976 with the idea that I could provide assistance as a physician to the new influx of clients with mental illness. Since that year I have been on the Board in one capacity or another, however not in the role as physician. My involvement became much deeper with service on committees, to providing gifts for clients, to raising money, and even to chairing the Board. Whenever I think that I might have completed my service over 33 plus years I am convinced and compelled to remain as a volunteer and Board member, hoping that I can contribute in any other or new way to this fine organization.

My husband and I have been blessed by serving at Atlanta Union Mission for the last 26 years. We began with what we thought was a one time volunteer painting day and we have never looked back. We have watched so many lives saved from addition and homelessness through the love of the caring staff. It is indeed a privilege to serve the Lord by ministering to the men and women of Atlanta Union Mission.

I have served with the mission for approximately four years and am always in awe of the lives they change, the compassionate hearts of everyone on staff and their determination to never leave anyone behind. Experiencing this amazing environment changed my life and has renewed my faith that in a self centered world there are still people who are so selfless and caring.

I have served at the Mission for over 10 years and it has enriched my life. The people we serve have no place else to go and generally no one else who cares. They are truly saving and changing lives everyday one life at a time. The Mission provides $10,000,000 worth of shelter and recovery sevices to the City of Atlanta every year. The Mission raises all of it own funds with very little goverment funding. It is truly an amazing group of people.

I was a resident at Atlanta Union Mission/Village Atlanta over 11 years ago. I had a wonderful experience. I did not complete the program for personal reasons. However; the tools I received in the Personal Development Program have kept me clean and sober these past 11 years. I have gone on to become a productive member of society, starting my own business and with a greater sense of self and belief in God. Everyday I thank God for allowing to have had the opportunity to have gone through the programs at Atlanta Union Mission. In turn I have sent a few of my willing clients to the program. To date I know of two who have sucessfully completed the program and are still clean and sober. Thank you Atlanta Union Mission
