I am a singing member of this organization. In May, I sang the original work "Shaken, Not Heard" with the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus. This is a groundbreaking work where the songs and dialogue highlight the composite struggles of one gay man in his search for compassion, understanding, and grace in the harsh light of organized religion. I felt that we were doing a small part to change the world by presenting this emotional material, which resonated greatly with my own life struggles. This is the kind of value that the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus brings to Atlanta and the world. I will continue to cherish my involvement in this important organization.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

small and large efforts. Beyond the large concert events, small groups from the Chorus go on Christmas caroling excursions for seniors, spreading cheer and music.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that the collective effort and energy of the individuals who make up the group never seems to give out or give up. We recharge and keep going...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated to the mission of the group, and supremely committed to doing and being their best in that effort.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

tour the country or the world bringing programs like "Shaken, Not Heard" to people everywhere, changing lives for the better and broadening understanding of what it means to be gay.

This organization is on the way up. The membership, board, donors, and supporters have taken a nearly 30 year old organization and made it gleam. The staff surpasses expectations through their dedication to excellence. Friction within the organization is kept to a minimum, and the mission of the chorus is consistently achieved in the Atlanta community. Having sung with an award-winning large chorus in the Nation's Capitol, I am equally as proud to be a singing member of the AGMC.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

changing lives through the experience of quality musical performance with a message of reconciliation, love, and understanding.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

seek a benefit concert with Sir Elton John, recruit more non-singing members to support the chorus both financially and through support activities such as productions.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the new friendships after relocating to the area from Washington DC. Also, the opportunity to serve the community through my singing in the chorus.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Superb.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

go on a tour with the recent "Shaken, Not Heard: Stories of Gay Men, Faith, and Reconciliation."

Ways to make it better...

the economic climate were not so challenging, as the singing membership has had to contribute extraordinary amounts of time to help keep the organization moving forward due to financial needs.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the same economic challenges other non-profits face in today's economic climate. The talent is ready to zoom to dizzying heights.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Philanthropic lovers of quality musical performance should experience the Atlanta Gay Mens Chorus at where it is currently, instead of recalling some distant memory of the AGMC. We're gonna WOW you!
