Do you ever see a need that begs for attention from you? Do you actually do something about it? Tammy Nguyen Lee saw a need and along with her family, she did something about it. While she was working on her documentary Operation Babylift and travelling to Vietnam, she saw the need in the orphanages there. ATG was founded to help fill that need and support the Asian American community by way of giving scholarships to artists and leaders, supporting emerging artists of any craft, and participating in local and national community groups. ATG is transparent with its finances and is a true TOTAL VOLUNTEER salaries, no financial perks, no unnecessary spending. I'd highly recommend getting involved with ATG Against The Grain Productions in some capacity. When you read that first report back from the yearly trip to orphanages in Asia (to make sure the money is going where it needs to, to deliver goods and see what new needs have emerged), when you see a student receiving their scholarship, when you hear an fashion designer or artist say, "ATG gave me my start," after their career has sky rocketed, you will be so glad you had a role in the organization!
