As a homeschool mom, my daughter & I have attended shows for the past 3years. I love the incredible variety of the professional shows:
fables, favorite children's books, history, science, dances, even math!
My daughter loves seeing her favorite books or interests (like dancing)
come
alive with the actors, their costumes and all around fun! It really enriches the learning with an exciting field trip. Sometimes we read before about the subject before the show; sometimes after. Either way,
the downloadable resource material on the website is excellent too.
For example, one of her favorites was the Step Afrika dancing troupe.
Besides their great dancing, they taught the audience how to do some steps and emphasize the importance of education and grades!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

attending shows which are well organized; the seating is quick and efficient!

I have been working for several years now as an usher and board member for Arts on Stage. This nonprofit company brings great theater productions to school -aged children around the Baltimore area. These productions have included music, dance, children's literature, historical figures, and science. I have watched the excitement of children who are attending their first theatrical production, and it is contagious. Teachers and home-schooling parents are also provided with a study guide for the performance so follow-up can be done back at the school setting. Those involved in choosing the productions are very in-tune with the curriculum used in the public schools of the area so as to provide an educational as well as cultural experience. Presently the productions are held at Goucher College and Chesapeake Art Center.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

positive words from students, parents, and teachers who have attended a show.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

hope for funding to come available to more schools to be able to pay for the cost of buses for a field trip such as this.
