Mission: We’re the primary local arts organization in the Lowcountry and historic Beaufort, SC.  We are tireless advocates for local artists, educators, and cultural organizations.  We award quarterly grants in support of arts-based opportunities and advise anyone with cultural ideas, potential projects, or needs. We actively market the arts in Beaufort County through our Quarterly ArtNews and our website.  Our three guiding goals are to be leaders and innovators in Incubating the Arts, Cultural Tourism and Arts Education.  We are recognized around the state of South Carolina as a leading local arts agency and an innovator on all fronts.  In 1999 Governor James Hodges awarded our organization with the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award as South Carolina’s most outstanding arts organization.  We are very proud of our work, our community’s cultural identity, and the creative energy that makes Beaufort a remarkable County.

The Arts Council of Beaufort County is an amazing non-profit that is committed to the success of the arts in Beaufort County. They offer a wide range of services such as classes & workshops for adults and children; business training for artists; affordable studio, gallery and theater space; community arts grants for artists, teachers, schools and arts organizations. They also work with other organizations to broaden the reach of the arts throughout our county. Most importantly, the Arts Council is fiscally responsible with the funds they recieve from donors and grants.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Continuing to share my love of the arts with others throughout Beaufort County.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Educated, knowledgable and committed to the arts.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the state of the arts in Beaufort County by furthering our mission and goals and offering more arts opportunities for Beaufort County. we could obtain our own building and make it our dream space.

The Arts Council of Beaufort County is a wonderful organization that seeks not only to help artists via direct grants, but also provides facilities and programing to benefit the general public. Their office at ARTworks provides a Gallery where the public can see works by new artists, as well as established ones like Jonathan Green. They offer affordable studio space for new artists. They also host workshops where the general public can learn about various art forms: painting, photography, documentary film making. The list goes on!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated to improving the exposure of all art forms in Beaufort.
