Love this non-profit. Easy to get involved, 99.9% of all costs associated go directly to recipients, rewards are received by both the sender and the recipient, and I love sending directly to a military person items they might need or a letter to brighten the day and to know how much it means and to get a thank you back is the icing on the cake. I especially like sending a bit of home to those in austere conditions. Great community involvement project for kids and schools. An opportunity to learn of other cultures as well. Those camel spiders in the middle east catch the kids attention and make a great segue into current events, geography, social sciences etc. Does lots of good for so little time, effort and money.

Since retiring from teaching school, I have been sending care packages to deployed troops. AnySoldier is the organization I use for contacts with deployed troops. I am very pleased with the work they do in monitoring their website and in encouraging volunteers. They always provide helpful information and updates. They are exceptional in their focus of providing comfort and care to our troops.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have had many wonderful letters and emails from the troops I send packages to.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try to find a way to let the supporters of a group communicate to coordinate the items sent to that group of troops.

My son and I stumbled upon Anysoldier.com when we googled items to send in a care package to our friend, LCpl David Hill. My son was moved to send care packages to soldiers. He started a lemonade stand to raise money to send care packages to as many soldiers as he can. To date he raised over $1500 and sent almost 60 care packages and will be sending more! This all started because of anysoldier.com. Without them we would not have anyone to send care packages too. Yes, we have been given some address from people, but without any soldier we would have ran out of addresses along time ago.

I've been blessed to help Anysoldier.com since it's conception in '07, by writing letters and sending care packages to our service men and women in Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas of depolyment. Soldiers who do not receive support from family, receive it from thousands of generous volunteers. They give of their time and money to bless our military in harms' way. We become addicted, especially when we are surprised by having a soldier write us to thank us for our support. It is them who deserve the "thank you". Any Soldier Inc./anysoldier.com is an awesome non-profit begun by a wonderful military family...the Horns.

I have been sending packages and letters to men and women serving in our Armed Forces for about 5 years through Anysoldier.com. Marty Horn and his family started this site in order to provide an avenue for the general public to send care packages and letters of support to the people serving in harms way. The troops can submit things that they can not get where they are located, or things that would make their lives a bit easier. Letters are the most requested items. We can then go though the lists of contacts and pick one that we can support, either because we can provide the items they need, or because their note touches us in some way. It gives us a chance to feel as though we are doing something to help them.

I have received mail back from some of the people I sent packages to. They are all so happy to know that average citizens care about them and take time to let them know they are not forgotten about.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The only changes I would make would be to make more citizens aware of the dramatic lift of moral a single letter can be to a soldier serving away from home. That isn't anything the Horn's can do differently, we just need to get the word out!
