ANOTHER CHANCE 4 HORSES INC has been shut down permanently for NOT being a "Great Nonprofit." They ran a scam rescue for years and stole money from people over and over, and it took years of complaints from concerned and outraged victims before authorities would take action. Now they have shut this scam operation down and Christy Sheidy will pay for her many crimes.

These so called rescues support 'brokers' more than they want to save the horses. The brokers behind these horses are in it for the money. If you go to the auctions yourself, you will see many of these horses sell for under $100. The brokers buy these horses and put ridiculous prices on them. I personally have saved many horses from kill pens and re-homed them for only $50 over my expensives. And that was only to buy the next one. I would NEVER put these high prices on them! NOR, would I support such a 'broker' and help put money in their pockets. I would be ashamed to list myself as a rescue group and at the same time support these so called 'brokers!' Many brokers are the resuers friends and/or family and they all have their hands in the money bowl. They feed on the emoitions of people who truly wnat to save these horses. People that want to save horses from slaughter need to go to the auctions themselves and purchase them directly. They will be A LOT cheaper, and no one is making a huge profit!

Ac4h is merely using emotional blackmail to sell horses online. She does not work with kill buyers as they will not work with her. She tacks on quite a tidy profit to her actual purchase price plus inflating the cost of health certificates and coggins papers. She is ignorant about horses as is very evident in the videos of her children riding without shoes and helmets. Any lameness is described as "gaited" by Sheidy. Visitors to the website would not know about the mare with her coffin bone rotated through her sole who was "described as foot sored," in the video as she was forced to walk with Sheidy waving a paper behind her. Many, many people have received very ill horses which had to be euthanized due to lack of vet care by Sheidy. Please go to an auction and choose your horse. Do not be fooled by Sheidy's emotional blackmail.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

her efforts to intimidate anyone who is critical. She calls the police and makes false reports as well as reporting anyone who makes a negative comment to FB.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Shut it down and charge with fraud, violation of anti-cruelty laws, violation of Dept. of Ag. regulations and make it illegal for Sheidy to own or deal horses.

I adopted a horse recently through ac4h. I did so because I was fortunate enough to speak to his breeder and really liked the look of the horse. It was an easy enough process and I have to say that personally, any horse that gets taken out of the auction/slaughter pipline is a victory for me. What I will say is that the horse was in good weight in his photos and videos. When he arrived in quarantine (a week later?) he was practically emaciated. Every rib showing, hind end sunken in, hips sticking out, and terrified to be caught. I am not sure what happened to him between the pics being taken and him leaving but he was almost not the same horse. (if he wasn't a paint i would have thought he may not have been the same one). I am also not sure this group is a 'non-profit' as I would think they are profiting form this.

Been working with AC4H for almost 10 years. No problems yet, and STILL waiting for even a scrap of proof to any of the accusations. Before you jump on the bandwagon (comprised largely of people rejected for adoptions), PLEASE do your homework. Horse rescue is NOT easy, and these people think that they are doing a good thing by continually attacking AC4H.... what they do not seem to grasp is that they are hurting ALL of the rescues, and ALL of the horses. It's really a shame...so much energy wasted for all the wrong reasons.

The Great!

for almost 10 years. Seen the complainers come and go. Heard ALL the guarantees of proof...still none. Yet AC4H works with local and state agencies, has been on how many different tv programs, and has saved how many horses from slaughter? If there's proof, let's see it. But since there isn't any yet, those of us who genuinely love horses continue to do what we can to HELP them. Negative lip service is helping no one.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make it more CLEAR to people that if you want a young, well broke, w/t/c awesome horse for your kid...an auction is NOT the place to get one!! It is always a craps shoot...buyer beware! AND...That AC4H does NOT own the Broker Horses.... the BROKERS do! That AC4H is just trying to get them more exposure in hopes of a good home.

What is unique about this organization?

That Ac4H does large numbers of horses every year, gives them, at very least, a better chance at a good home. AND...the fact that no matter how many people libel and slander AC4H, Christy, her husband, and her young girls... they just carry on, doing what they can for the horses.

Pyra said it all. Ac4$ is another nickname due to the owner's sheister scams. The cruelty being perpetrated is illegal under PA law, though those who enforce the law choose not to take on ac4$. She threatens any who cross her. Not to mention that no rescue in the country makes $300,000 one year and $700,000 the next. That's why it is called a "non-profit." Of all the unethical, illegal and outlandish behavior by ac4h, delivering a pony with a painted on star in a clumsey attempt to resemble the actual pony purchased online, beats all former scams. The painted star has been documented by law enforcement. Sadly, the neglect and mistreatment of animals in her care continues unabated.

weekly observations of their website, as well as verbally abusive attacks in person and online as well as dissemination of lies by Christy Sheidy.

Arrest them for multiple counts of cruelty, violation of PA Dept of Agriculture regulations, cheating the IRS, operating in complete violation of their mission statement and criminal fraud.

I have watched this group buy and sell horses at New Holland Sales Stable for years. They willingly out bid a private buyer just so they can put the horse up for adoption. In fact, on thier website they even state they have Mini Horses available just so they can make some money on them. If you watch the site you will see horses that don't move eventually end up on the "brokers" site for sale. That person is at New Holland every Monday buying and selling horses. This is definetly a buyer beware place.

The Great!

Yes, at one time I did consider adopting from them as I had seen the horse they bought at New Holland. After talking to them ( they are very suspicious when answering your questions) I felt I did not want to give them one cent to continue on with thier "work"

Ways to make it better...

I believe they should be paying taxes on thier income.

This is not a rescue, but using their 501(c)3 status to sell horses to the tune of $350,000 a year, also benefiting a killbuyer with which this organization is very cozy. Horses are dispersed with no contracts and many disappear after money is raised online purportedly to save them from the killbuyer. It is common knowledge that minis and ponies do not go to kill, but this rescue puts them up on their website begging for money to save them. Then Whoosh! They refuse to account for their whereabouts. They have also sold horses in terrible condition with no vet care. One of the most egregious violations of PA law was forcing a laminitic mare to walk for the video. Two days later X-rays show her coffin bone rotated thru her sole. Many other lame horses have been offered for sale, described as "gaited," by the narrator. Authorities from several agencies are investigating.

The Great!

As an enforcement officer, I received many complaints. The org. has several locations which are not open to the public and difficult to observe.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would close down the organization and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

Look at those [pictures of what AC4H calls an "Approved Adopter"
Pictures don't lie., especially pictures this place CHOOSES to post on their wall of their own facility and the horses they say they are
caring for.
These pictures should say it all.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing horses they say they are helping who are not even at their facility, and in unhappy adopters who received horses who were ill, lame, dead or dying, and otherwise not as advertised

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Put them out of business. If you look at the 990s linked here, you see that either they, or the broker they pay for these horses is making over $300,000 a year. That is alot of money for a rescue to hand a broker

I have known and helped as a foster AC4H for years, known them for 10. I have been to their facilities, and watched how they do business. Never in all that time I have I had any reason to doubt them, their paperwork all checks out, they are a legit non profit, and others i know who have adopted from them have benn happy as well. I have never known them to be dishonest, they are always helpful and answer any questions or work with you in any way possible for the best of the horses. I am sorry to see the smear campaign being waged here by a crooked woman who lied and cheated about her horse and was found out. Shame on you.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing both the adoptive homes and those they took in that others turned away, including horses left at the sales barn deemed unfit for sale.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them more help and volunteers, they do a lot with a small group of people.
