I began donating to AC4H to help others bail slaughter bound Horses, my first donation was returned due to someone at the Rescue wanting the Horse I donated for, I turned around and put it to another Horse in need, on another occasion, another donation I sent was again offered to be returned as the Horse I donated for was direct Bailed, I asked that the money be applied to another Horse needing help, none of these actions are those of a dishonest Rescue, I would never have questioned the Rescue as my donations or gifts, not a right of entitlement, but they took the time and effort to tell me what was going on with my donations. A few months later i saw Palomino 8-17-11 and decided to direct bail her myself, from the beginning I was aware of my responsibilities as per their contract and that there were no guarantees as to her health or temperament. My Palomino arrived healthy and lucky for me with a great temperament, but I was prepared for anything, I accepted this before I bailed her. I have had nothing but great experiences with this Rescue and will continue to support their efforts. For many months I've asked, I've demanded and I've begged from those who spread these innuendo's to please show me some legitimate evidence that would prove their allegations, I'm open to listening to anyone with proof, make me believe it's not personal, make me believe it's not a vendetta and that you are doing these ugly things all for the sake of the Horses, make me a believer, because what I've read and seen is Ugly and in no way leads me to believe your here to help save the lives of Horses or to end their suffering. Nothing based in Anger and Hatred is productive it only serves to destroy. I'm always available for those who think my story is just another lie made up by the Rescues, I invite anyone who believes I'm a fake to come see my girl, I assure you I'm very real and she's alive and safe and that wouldn't be possible without this Rescue. Are these Rescues perfect, no, have they made mistakes, yes, have they saved the lives of Horses, yes and that's why I'm here, that's why I'll stand by them, stand up for them, because as long as their efforts save Horses, then they deserve my support.

I have viable proof of what I've stated here, something others can't do. I'm for any organization that makes a positive difference in the lives of animals, so stop making allegations and start proving your case as this is not just about your situation it's about thousands and thousands of Horses in desperate need of help, for them this is about life and death. True advocates for animals would never do them harm through word or actions.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No organization can escape these kinds of attacks, many have their own agendas that long ago became self serving and less about the Horses, but if I had to make changes I would support advocates with no connections to the Rescues to monitor the Horses that are saved, but for those disparaging the Rescues nothing will ever be enough, many have lost site of what it most important here, it's not money, it's the lives of suffering Horses.

I purchased a broker horse through AC4H in 2009. The rescue's policies are clearly stated. They helped me arrange transport in a very short amount of time. The horse, on arrival, was exactly as I expected. You do not get a polished, clean, show-ready animal straight off a feedlot, and I was not expecting such. The organizations president and volunteers were all very helpful and I am thrilled with my horse. I have met Christy, the rescue's founder, and her family, and found them to be sincere and dedicated to helping horses out of bad situations.

Witness to a horse being rescued from this rescue (not the broker lot). Horse had been in possession of this organization for months and was adopted out (sold) with every single rib showing. Not what was advertised in it's photographs. Either a different horse entirely or it was fed quite poorly and malnourished.

I donated (with issue) and witnessed what I would classify as animal abuse. I don't doubt there are some 'positive' stories out there with regards to the broker program. Unfortunately it is my opinion that those who bought are not aware that they were ripped off.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Remove 501(c)3 status, remove animals from their possession.

I adopted a horse from them and everything went smoothly and just as they said it would. All costs and policies were clearly stated.

I have donated money that helped horses that were endangered of being sent to slaughter find new homes and am an adopter myself.

I wouldn't make changes. They do a very good job in a position that is fraught with difficulties and dealing with people who seem to have personal vendettas. But they keep on helping the horses. Which is all I think anyone wants to see.

It's unfortunate that Sally S who had 22 animals seized by Animal Control in Olathe, Kansas has now taken to this venue to trash a reputable horse rescue. She was denied adopting a horse. She is a scammer, and has post after post on Facebook and every other place begging for money.

I have adopted and volunteered for this organization. They do amazing things with horses that otherwise would have gone to slaughter or been abused.

If I had to make changes to this org. I would have a larger farm so they could carry on with their work.

I got my Trinity...18 month old filly...from AC4H in March 2011. She's a beautiful, smart and sweet girl and coming along wonderfully in training. I have no complaints with AC4H. They helped me through the process, recommended transports, put me in touch with a quarintine facility and she arrived with all the paperwork (coggins and health report).

My only wish is that there be some way I can find out more about her breeding, as she looks to be of very good confirmation.

I began donating to help "save horses" as they claimed these horses were heading for slaughter by Friday at 4pm every week. After a while, I began to see "deadline extended" and "horses held over another week" more often. It took months, but I finally realized that they were not "saving horses" as they claimed, they are simply SELLING HORSES. They give evaluations on horses training and health that are grossly inaccurate to the point of fraud and they use the threat of slaughter to emotionally blackmail donors into spending more than they can afford. Unfortunately, they used to funnel these horses that were paid for with donor money to another organization...Voices for Horses. They then turned more than 25 of them over to the Humane Society in Wyandot County Ohio where they were put to sleep.
Just MY experience, not second hand information.

To call this organization a "rescue" is a huge, and I mean, humongous stretch! They reported $300k in revenue for 2009, yet NOBODY, according to a very credible source, in the Sheidy household works a regular job at all. She has consistently claimed for years that AC4h does not own the broker horses, but where is this revenue coming from, then?

None of the money taken in benefits the horses in any way, shape or form. She claimed $27,000 in vet expenses and $56k in hay and supplements, yet virtually NONE of the horses going through the broker program get even the most basic vet care and many of them, when they leave the broker lot, are in worse shape than when they arrived.

As a result, they are shipped out sick, injured, emaciated and lame across state lines, which is a big NO-NO. Quite a few of these poor animals have had to be humanely destroyed upon arrival at their new homes.

They claim they have adopted out approximately 1,000 horses last year-- a claim that doesn't hold water in this miserable economy and many reputable and legitimate rescues are struggling to place their animals and keep them fed and healthy.

I agree with the other reviewers that the majority of these horses have been shipped to slaughter as Christy and her cohorts have failed abysmally time after time to account for the whereabouts of all the missing horses or to provide updates on them. This occurring after they took in thousands of dollars in donations and glibly assured donors the horses were no longer in peril.

Christy does not like for people to ask serious and pointed questions and she has avoided them time after time, or given very vague answers which never address the questions directly. If people persist, she deletes their posts and blocks them--all major red flags that this "rescue" is one to avoid completely. I would never support this organization and hope that she will be shut down permanently in the near future.

The photo I am providing with this review is of Faith, a grulla mare that was severely, and I mean, horribly foundered and in such excruciating pain that she did not want to walk, yet Christy's daughter forced the poor animal to move--on hard pavement at that.

Christy was told by the veterinarian that she needed to be put down, but she refused to do so--she wanted the money for this horse because of her unusual coloring-- and so a hauler had no choice but to transport her several hundred miles in her condition to the Poconos, where she was humanely euthanized. This poor animal did not receive ANY vet care at all--NONE-- while in Christy's hands, which is typical of this woman. All she cares about is the money the horse will bring her.

watching them and talking to those people who have either donated money or adopted horses from them. Very, very few have had positive experiences with this sham rescue. In my opinion, the negative far outweighs the good.

Shut them down completely-- that is the only good course of action to take!

AC$H as it SHOULD be referred to is a HORRIBLE excuse for a rescue. Christy Sheidy has NO idea what she's doing. She doesn't know the 1st thing about horses. Totally misrepresents the horses that go thru her "rescue"....many are MUCH older than she puts in their description, are dangerous when she claims they're "dead broke, kid broke". Has adopted out many an ill or VERY lame horse that in HER words were "100 percent sound and healthy". Horses left in her care for any amount of time end up finally arriving at their new adopted homes emaciated and sick, some have even had to be destroyed by their new adopted owners because they were so sick or lame. Dont believe me? Contact me and I can provide proof. I've dealt with her 1st hand. I also suspect she is drugging horses for her "evaluation videos" as mare I adopted was described as "quiet" and beginner safe and when i got her home 2 wks later she was aggressive and attacked me. This woman cannot be trusted and is under investigation as we speak.
