A friend of mine "adopted" a horse from AC4H. It crossed state lines (into NY) with NO health certificate and had to have a vet on scene immediately. The horse had explosive diarrhea, and this "great mover" has retracted tendons in both of her hind legs leaving her VERY lame. As of right now she is positive for jaundice and anemic and they are currently running multiple tests to figure out whatever else is wrong with the poor animal. MEANWHILE, other horses on the property (including my own) are in 30 day quarantine since this horse is in that severe of a condition. AFTER running these tests, the mare will most likely be euthanized.. not much of a rescue, huh?! If you have ANY other information like this, please contact me! We would really enjoy putting her out of business :) Have a great day everyone!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

negative ways. This organization didn't rescue a horse, it simply SOLD it before it could be humanely euthanized.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

shut it down completely. PA should've been looking into this long before now.

This is not a rescue, but using their 501(c)3 status to sell horses to the tune of $350,000 a year, also benefiting a killbuyer with which this organization is very cozy. Horses are dispersed with no contracts and many disappear after money is raised online purportedly to save them from the killbuyer. It is common knowledge that minis and ponies do not go to kill, but this rescue puts them up on their website begging for money to save them. Then Whoosh! They refuse to account for their whereabouts. They have also sold horses in terrible condition with no vet care. One of the most egregious violations of PA law was forcing a laminitic mare to walk for the video. Two days later X-rays show her coffin bone rotated thru her sole. Many other lame horses have been offered for sale, described as "gaited," by the narrator. Authorities from several agencies are investigating.

As an enforcement officer, I received many complaints. The org. has several locations which are not open to the public and difficult to observe.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would close down the organization and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

I find this rescue to be dishonest and falsely representing their animals and where their money comes from. They say they volunteer for the rescue 24/7 but are non profit...so how do they pay their bills? Or buy new horses?? The whole operation is very suspicious to me.

Look at those [pictures of what AC4H calls an "Approved Adopter"
Pictures don't lie., especially pictures this place CHOOSES to post on their wall of their own facility and the horses they say they are
caring for.
These pictures should say it all.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing horses they say they are helping who are not even at their facility, and in unhappy adopters who received horses who were ill, lame, dead or dying, and otherwise not as advertised

Put them out of business. If you look at the 990s linked here, you see that either they, or the broker they pay for these horses is making over $300,000 a year. That is alot of money for a rescue to hand a broker

I have had a wonderful experiance with AC4H. I see all the good they do and have known many horses saved through their efforts. They are NOT a rich family, but one who gives all their time and resources to saving animals. Can we say the same? Please stop fueling the fire and accusing people of things we do not know to be true.

I have known and helped as a foster AC4H for years, known them for 10. I have been to their facilities, and watched how they do business. Never in all that time I have I had any reason to doubt them, their paperwork all checks out, they are a legit non profit, and others i know who have adopted from them have benn happy as well. I have never known them to be dishonest, they are always helpful and answer any questions or work with you in any way possible for the best of the horses. I am sorry to see the smear campaign being waged here by a crooked woman who lied and cheated about her horse and was found out. Shame on you.

seeing both the adoptive homes and those they took in that others turned away, including horses left at the sales barn deemed unfit for sale.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them more help and volunteers, they do a lot with a small group of people.

Reading the posts, I can only say it is so sad a mentally disturbed group of people want to administer more pain and suffering to animals that have suffered the gravest of disrespect and loss by being thrown away by their owners. Those that choose to help this rescue, simply need to check with the local humane society and to ask for documented proof of income and expenses. This doesn't mean the rescue is fraudulent, asking about any charity is good sense. Do your own research and let your conscience be your guide, not bitterness.

It has been an honor and a blessing to work with ac4h for over 4 yrs now. My experiences have been great. I have been able to visit the rescue and help with horses in need. My questions have always been answered. They have a great group of volunteers to help in all areas as ac4h extends beyond just being a rescue but also helps horses that are going to slaughter. They have aided in prosocution surrounding large neglect cases and have helped in placing those horses into loving careing homes as well as rehabilitating many theirselves. ac4h is a true blessing to many and to any and all horses in need.

SCAM! Don't trust this woman as far as you can throw her. Take your money to a reputable rescue who documents, these horses have a tendency to disappear.

This is all a smear campaign against the rescue by people that have personal agendas and drama llamas or others that just don't like Christy. Always drama llamas that are just jealous of this rescue because it's a success and other rescues that just don't like Christy and there's plenty of them! Just jealousy! Christy places hundreds of horses every year and she can account for every single one of them! Why can't people just let this rescue alone and stop the badgering? If she gets a little money by administration fees or other fees why not? She and her family do the work all week, every week nobody else!
