I am a health care practitioner and have attended the first two conferences held in West Palm Beach. The knowledge I gained about cutting edge integrative cancer therapies has really helped me in my practice. I look forward to attending Jan. 2010 to listen to the top rate international lecturers in the field of oncology & complementary therapies. Dr. Marcelle Miller

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

educating the public of alternative and/or integrative therapies available.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the sharing that goes on with most of the participants.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Top notch, efficient and caring.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

CHANGE THE WORLD.....

Ways to make it better...

The seminars could be longer

I commend Ann and the Annie Appleseed Project on the dedication to patient rights and the continued effort each year to bring the C.A.M. conference to South Florida. We are so fortunate to have your non-profit working on our behalf, THANK YOU! P. Shaw, Fort Lauderdale

If you are diagnosed with cancer[as I was in 1994 with advanced lymphoma] you're entering a foreign country. You start out looking for the best doctors and best treatments, but it may be tragically much later that you realize that the menu of treatments was incomplete. Annie Appleseed is an extraordinary resource for cancer patients in providing a comprehensive map of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Treatments for cancer in the US and throughout the world. Their knowledge base is derived from leading integrative physicians and other health care practitioners(Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic practitioners, nutritionists, etc.) as well as actual patients sharing their experiences with specific treatments, doctors and clinics-like a Zagat's guide written by cancer patients. Patients have access to this invaluable data plus personal support through Annie Appleseed's "education seminars", "workshops",Conferences, and the most extensive website database available of CAM treatments for cancer. Patients coming to Annie Appleseed feel EMPOWERED by the information they obtain, NURTURED by the camaraderie of other patients and their families and more HOPEFUL about the future. The vision and energy driving Annie Appleseed is it's founder Ann Fonfa, who has also traveled the cancer path. OK,I admit it, I have a bias: I adore Ann Fonfa- for her championing the right of patients to pursue alternative and novel cancer therapies; for her generosity and compassion; for her tireless commitment to patient education & empowerment; for her heroic efforts in pursuing changes in health policy; for her gift in networking and building partnerships with other advocacy organizations; and for her tenacity in the face of all challenges (including conventional medicine). Also, almost every dollar coming into Annie Appleseed goes towards programming. Annie Appleseed is like a hidden treasure- when patients discover it they often realize, "oh my God,I had no idea how much valuable information was here". Because of my own cancer experience I became a Cancer Patient Advocate. I know there are times when surgery is the best option for a localized cancer. But for metastatic cancer we're learning that there are multiple cell cycle signaling mechanisms driving tumor growth, including growth factors (VEGF, EGFR, PDGFR,etc.), hormone receptors, proteins, signal transduction molecules, angiogenesis-related molecules, transcription factors, oncogene products, etc. Annie Appleseed is an invaluable resource of evidence-based research on non-toxic approaches (e.g., nutraceuticals, botanicals, etc)to inhibit many of these signaling cascades. I speak at various cancer disease advocacy group meetings, and they provide a wonderful service. But when it comes to a complete map of all novel treatment options, every cancer patient should include Annie Appleseed Project on their map. I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the empowerment which cancer patients have conveyed after attending an Annie Appleseed Conference.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

it is totally patient-centered

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

staff and volunteers have all had experience with cancer, either themselves or a family member, and they are very compassionate.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

fund alternative cancer treatment research on non-patentable drugs(i.e., bigPharma will not fund); fund international meetings of researchers on the cutting edge of alternative cancer treatments;run educational workshops in more cities in the US
