The founder of the Annie Appleseed Project is an amazing woman who gives of herself to help educate and empower others to not only help themselves and their loved ones with breast cancer issues, but also to move forward the focus on prevention and treatment of the disease.

Ann (Annie Appleseed Project) is empowering others by sharing her expertise and allowing us to become more knowledgeable about how to deal with cancer on a day to day basis. Ann has a gift and is very loving in sharing her own journey. Once you attend one of her conferences or even just spend a little time on her web-site(you will be learning so much from her site that you could spend hours there, so relax with a cup of tea and enjoy the experience!) you will be more peaceful about the cancer journey.

During and after the conference, I spoke with attendees and they were much more accepting of their cancer and felt very empowered to no longer be the "victim," but to take control. They were given the hope that is needed to move forward.

The AnnieAppleSeedProject, through intelligent, scientific inquiry, continues to bear fruit, nourishing the community of people with a cancer diagnosis with information on little known treatment options. The benefits of this knowledge, delivered with compassion and generosity, are life enhancing and life changing. The value produced with every dollar donated is beyond measure. This is an extra-ordinary organization worthy of support.

I met Ann Fonfa in 1998 when we both had chapters in the book "Women Confront Cancer, making medical history by choosing alternative & complimentary therapies" Wooddell& Hess, 1998 NYU Press. We spoke on various panels and I have admired her industriousness ever since. She really gets a lot done- website with extensive information, conferences and traveling to speak at interested venues.

I am in awe of what Ann Fonfa has done to bring complementary and alternative treatments for cancer into the public eye and what she has done to support cancer patients and their families. She is tireless in putting her vision into action and she has paved the way for many to make choices they might not otherwise have known were available, through her comprehensive website and through personal interactions. She also holds a torch for truth and balance by seeking out and drawing attention to new research that may challenge prevailing mainstream perspectives or assumptions about treatment. The beneficial repercussions of her work travel far through her website, and through regional as well as national conferences.

I participated in the 2008 Annie Appleseed Conference and was impressed, both by the level and array of speakers Ann Fonfa had gathered to present information that is not always readily available through mainstream medicine. The popularity of the conference was such that I’m sure a larger venue will be necessary for patients and practitioners hungry for reliable, intelligent presentations. There was a great sense of cooperation and Ann Fonfa took great care to see that the food available at the conference was in tune with the theme (i.e.- delicious organic, healthy meals and snacks). Ann does not pay lip service to health. She acts on her beliefs and knowledge at every level. I am a cancer survivor, health care professional and author. Ann Fonfa was extremely supportive so that I could make my book "After Shock: From Cancer Diagnosis to Healing – A step-by-step guide to help you navigate your way", available to participants. Her staff was also very helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this conference to professional and patient alike.

The Annie Appleseed Project has been a most impressive and effective force for education and awareness. The 2010 conference did a remarkable job of bringing together health professionals, cancer victims and their families. The entire presentation was a poignant reminder that cancer affects us all. The combination of personal stories with professional guidance created a positive experience out of such a tragic subject. THANK YOU ANN for all that you do and all that you are! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the conference and continuing support of this endeavor. Beth Ellen DiLuglio, MS, RD, CNSD, CCN NutritionMission.org

The Annieappleseed Project has been a life-saver for me from the very beginning. How refreshing it was for me to find this site, which offered me alternative and well thought-out points of view. I was starting to have a number of questions about the conventional one-size-fits-all treatments that I was offered at the beginning of my journey. Knowing Annieappleseed made all the difference for me. Therefore, I was more than happy to accept, when Ann Fonfa asked me if I would be able to help her staff a stand at last year's Ovarian Cancer Conference in DC. Though every cancer is a completely different disease, I learned a lot at that conference, from the other participants. I feel it was very important for Ann and me to have been present there, to voice our point of view on nutrition and cancer, an aspect of cancer treatment that is all to often completely overlooked. Not that there is no interest in nutrition in the public, but patients are often too tired and too confused to think about looking in that direction, and finding out what they may need to change in their lifestyle to reduce their risk of recurrence. The Annieappleseed project is doing a fantastic public service by providing information on nutritional issues and complementary natural therapies that may be available and could enhance their chances at recovering or avoiding recurrence.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The wealth of information it provides at every turn.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all very highly dedicated to the cause. I like to believe they think I was, too.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save millions of lives throughout the entire world.

Ways to make it better...

I had had more time to volunteer a lot more

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

raising more funds to pursue its crucial activities

One thing I'd also say is that...

It takes a lifetime of dedication to run this organization.

Years and years ago, while doing research at the library, I first learned about the Annie Appleseed website and the promise of complementary medicine. All of these years later, I am still delighted to be able to review the website. What prompted me to write is that a friend found out information about a drug that she had never seen before. This information has absolutely helped her immensely, and she is very grateful for it. Thank you, Annie Appleseed Project, for your illumination of obscure, difficult cancer issues!

The Great!

To reiterate, I have been the most fortunate recipient of the tons of information on the Annie Appleseed Project website. In addition, an astonishing breadth of complementary medicine information has been conveyed at the Conferences.

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in September 2009. I knew almost nothing about it and was referred to Annieappleseed.com through a friend of mine. Although I had been told all about conventional treatments, the alternative treatment information on the site was expansive. I was so interested that I attended their 2010 Conference for Alternative Treatment in West Palm Beach. There I was able to see firsthand what alternative treatments and nutrition therapies are out there. I sat in on informative lectures by phyicians and professionals, and was able to meet a number of community leaders and survivors who encouraged me in many ways. Since that conference I have attended two additional events courtesy of Annieapppleseed project. Both were very informative and enlightening to me.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my education of alternative treatments of cancer, my education and awareness of good nutrition, the importance of organic produce, the danger of chemicals in everyday use and having access to newly released medical studies and/or other news.

after my breast cancer diagnosis, Annie helped me sort out the possible treatment options with insights and impressive awareness. During and after treatment, the website gave me information about everything I was curious about, from mushroom supplements to strange radiation side effects. I couldn't find this level of authoritative, wide-ranging information anywhere else, and Annie is a goldmine of information and caring.
