I choose to support Angelwish because they make a large impact despite their small resources.

The organization’s mission and tireless leadership attracts talented and caring people who are mindful of how they can use their talents to make a difference in the lives of children living with
HIV and other chronic diseases.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The annual holiday Toy Spree held each year.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No changes except that more folks should lend them a hand (or submit a check!)

I've supported the work between Angelwish and different schools across NYC. I've seen students raise money and then purchase gifts for children in need. The amount of learning the students do on each giving spree is truly impressive. At one school a group of third graders even initiated their own campaign to raise money for books! Anglewish nurtured the students all along the way- coming to the school to explain the charity, setting up kids to go on a giving spree and then sharing photos of the big event after. The entire process is critical to helping young children grow into future leaders, future givers.

I've seen Angelwish do what it does best on a number of occassions --- get other children and the community involved in helping change the difficult experiences of children living with chronic illnesses. As a volunteer during Angelwish's giving sprees, I've seen all of the generous donation money go toward those basic things that can make a sick child feel like a happy little boy or girl - books, toys, learning materials, etc. And all of this is done while teaching children more fortunate than those who struggle with chronic illnesses the importance of giving back. The zealousness and smiles that I have seen from children who help to pick out books and toys for sick children of similiar ages is probably only a hint of the big eyes and wide smiles that the work of Angelwish is able to put on the faces of sick children. The work that Angelwish does is so important to giving sick children the opportunity to feel the way all children deserve to feel.

Angelwish is an amazing organization! I helped at one event and was so impressed by how well it was run. Everyone works so hard at Angelwish and that's because its so important. It makes the world a better place!

The event I volunteered at was school children picking out gifts for Christmas for children affected by HIV. I've been involved in a number of HIV charity events and this was by far the most moving experience.

I've volunteered with Angelwish INC several times in the past few years. This organization was a fundamental part of my Girl Scout Silver Award Project in 2006 and I would have been unable to achieve this award without the help of Angelwish. This great nonprofit hosts events like toy drives, which truly makes a difference in the lives of many children living with chronic illnesses. It provides these children with joys of being a child and happiness. It is absolutely a wonderful organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

participating in the toy drive event. My girl scout Silver Award project was based on planning the toy drive, so I saw which centers received the toys and how thankful the children and families truly were.
