Last year AFW flew my daughter and granddaughter to CA from AZ several time for life saving treatment. This year they continue to help children with cancer in AZ get to CA for care. They planes provide an additional bonus in that they are private planes vs. commercial. You are not afraid to fly AFW with a child who has a compromised immune system. Thanks to the entire staff for servicing the state of AZ. Teri Dornhecker Director Daisy's Eye Cancer Fund

I can't say enough wonderful things about this organization. My granddaughter has Retinoblastoma. Eye cancer in both eyes. She is only 7 months old and doing multi-state travel for treatment. AFW has been taking her and my daughter to and from treatment monthly and it has been a blessing. Money as everyone with cancer knows is tight. To have this service available is a God sent. The best part is with chemo your immune system is compromised and with AFW being private planes we do not have to put Evie on a commercial flight with the risk of others being Ill. They are so generous and helpful. They don't even let my daughter carry her luggage. They treat us like we are the ones doing them a favor, not the other way around. Thank you so much for serving our community.

What a wonderful experience. All the volunteers are so caring and were able to coordinate my flight from Fresno to Oakland so I could have spine surgery at UCSF Spine Center in a matter of just a few days. They even coordinated a ride to the BAART station in Oakland. This plane ride was so much fun for me. It felt like the frosting on the cake and was just a taste of my new abilities after surgery to treat scoliosis. My surgery has been life changing. I can now walk a mile if I want and I can stand long enough to cook dinner.. I could not afford to fly myself and driving was not an option either so AFW was a blessing that came in the nick of time, as I had cancelled surgery twice. And they would have flown me home if not for the change in my discharge plans. Thanks to Angel Flights West for making it possible for me to now be considering what I want to do with the rest of my life after 10 years of being disabled. I am amazed by what I am able to do now. Angel Flights West filled in the last blank in my list of needs in order to have the surgery that has changed my life. THANK YOU ALL AT ANGEL FLIGHTS AND IM GLAD TO BE ABLE TO TELL OTHERS ABOUT THEM.

Well before I started flying, I knew of Angel Flight and thought it was a great idea. After having my license for a few months shy of 5 years, I finally met the requirements to become a pilot for AFW and joined as quickly as I could. I'm always looking for an excuse to fly, and what better excuse could there be than helping someone else? After only a few flights, I've seen just how wonderful Angel Flight is. I've taken patients on their first trip in a small airplane, hopeful that a new trial treatment far from home would prove successful, and I've taken patients who fly every week to receive life-saving treatments. Some patients enjoy a good conversation and the view, while others just sleep after a long and tiring day, grateful that a 2-hour flight can replace a 5+ hour drive. But regardless of their condition or prognosis, all patients have been beyond grateful at the opportunity to receive necessary medical care, along with transportation that allows them to have a bit or normalcy return to life. When I first joined Angel Flight, I was hoping to do some good and log a few hours in the air. I never expected to be so touched by the opportunity to help so many wonderful people in a unique way. Angel Flight is truly an amazing organization with a most noble mission.

I have been a Pilot for many years and I am glad to be able to participate for the noble cause this organization offers. You have no idea on the level of satisfaction you get from those grateful eyes of the passengers.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Improve Personal Interaction between the Volunteers and create more public awareness in my area.

I have been a child protection social worker for the past 20 plus years, most recently in the State of Montana. I have had several children of various ages who needed to be transported to hospitals in Denver for medical treatment due to physical abuse by adults. Angel flight helped get those children to hospitals when their needs were life threatening, then once the treatment was complete returned the children to Montana. I never met the pilots but cannot thank them enough for their generous giving of time, saving a child's life. All of you a truly angels!!!!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have seen children's lives saved from various forms of abuse because Angel Flight West was there when needed.

I have been a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight West for three years and have flown some 40 missions. Each passenger trip that I fly is a vignette of life's deepest struggles: being seriously ill, with inadequate funds and away from those you love and who care for you most. Every such plane ride is an emotional experience, not only in empathy for those seeking or returning from treatment, but also in knowing that but for the slightest turn of fate, it could so easily be one of my family riding in the back. Angel Flight is a fabulous organization.

I began volunteering for Angel Flight as Utah Mission Coordinator quite a few years ago. I loved the compassionate and giving spirit of the organization. :-) Then, in 2004 I became very ill and was flown as a patient. Many heartfelt thanks go out to the Angel Flight Pilots who flew me back and forth from Salt Lake City, UT to Dallas, TX so I could see my family while I was in treatment. They lifted my spirits and brought light into my life during a very difficult time. Currently, I still volunteer for Angel Flight West as Mission Coordinator.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way they helped me get to see my family in UT while I was in treatment in Dallas, TX. Due to my low immune system and our beyond-stretched financial situation, they made the impossible possible. :-)

Having family members that have lost their battle to cancer I have seen how difficult and bumpy the road can become in that fight. Without organizations like Angel Flight it would have become impossible to get the all the treatments and appointments along the way. Their compassion and ability to fly in and out of smaller and larger airports creates an entirely new world of options for those in need. My family is truely grateful for all they do!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my personal life as well as the lives of others I have referred.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find more ways to help spread the word so people understand how safe and advantageous it is to be able to fly in private aircraft. The statistics speak for themselves but many still have a fear of "smaller" planes.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

professional, giving and talented people.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly and passionate about helping others.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the world even more than it already has!

Ways to make it better...

there was more funding and marketing to help others become aware of what other options are out there.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

ability to get the message out and help others understand what is possible with private aircraft.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I'm very thankful for this organization and all they do.

Imagine a child with a serious health problem who needs treatment hundreds of miles away from home — and may have to make the voyage repeatedly. Her parents can’t afford the airfare, and a long, uncomfortable road trip is out of the question. This is a real-life situation far more common than many realize. There are countless thousands of people who require, but cannot afford, air transportation for medical and other compelling human needs. This is where Angel Flight West steps in to help. Their volunteer pilots and assistants, located throughout the 13 western states, donate their time, planes and fuel to fly missions for those in need of transportation. There is never any charge for this service.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have been a volunteer pilot with Angel Flight West for 19 years and it never ceases to amaze me how so few people can accomplish so much.
