My husband has been going to the Alzheimer's Family Day Center for nearly two years. I am so glad I found this organization. The staff are very kind to clients and family. They go to great lengths to provide a positive and enriching environment for all levels of care. There ia always someone willing to listen if the caretaker needs to "unload." I highly recommended this organization.

The people are so kind and understanding . It is such a good feeling to know I can drop my Mom off for a respite day and know she will be in good hands.

The Alzheimer's Family Day Center has given us hope where non was to be found. My partner in life was diagnosed with moderate dementia. He has lost the ability to communicate effectively with the environment and as a result became angry, frustrated and depressed. The AFDC provides caring and loving environment, daily physical activities, music and movement sessions, healthy meal plan, and most importantly an emotionally appropriate environment where my spouse feel valued. The AFDC program director and social worker facilitate support groups for care takers, shared a list of county and local resources which are essential in order to address the legal, financial and logistical issues related to living with this disease. The AFDC has changed our lives and for that we are all eternally grateful.

My father started at the AFDC in April of this year after living with me for almost 7 years (with the last year being in assisted living.) Dad was no longer able to stay at assisted living for a number of reasons, plus I knew it wasn't the place he needed to be. I was running out of options and ideas of what to do with my father while I was at work. I heard about the day center through my support group. I went to talk to them and take a tour of the facility. When I left there, I cried because I knew God was looking out for me. The AFDC is the best thing since sliced bread and chocolate (and I am a chocoholic so that is saying something.) They really know how to deal with people who have dementia. They are very respective of all the participants and are always there to help families of the participants. My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner and that they don't have evening and weekend hours! THey are fantastic and I can't say enough good about everything at AFDC!!!!!!!!

The Alzheimer's Family Day Center is a gift to my family and our community! My Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years ago. Although my grandmother also had the disease, I was in college and away from her day-to-day care needs, so I didn't really know what to expect as a caregiver. The classes that they offer for caregivers are terrific and included a wide range of topics from the medical and physical changes that are a result of Alzheimer's to legal paperwork and useful suggestions on how to care and respond to people who have the disease. My mom attended the center until this week when she fell at home and was hospitalized, but their support even after her fall has been outstanding. The AFDC was my dad's (and my) sanity savior. Thank you! Big kudos to the AFDC team!!

My father goes to the Alzheimer's Family Day Center and they are fantastic! They have greatly improved my father's quality of life and significantly reduced the caregiver burden on our family. Their efforts are to be highly commended!

My mother has Alzheimer's disease. I was at wits end until AFDC was recommended to me by a nurse at Fairfax Hospital. This place far exceeds any of the day centers in the region. Its population is people suffering from Alzheimer's. The staff is highly qualified to deal with both the client and the client's family and the many different aspects of the disease. The place is well lit and full of activity. My mother, who never wanted to venture out of the house, is now thrilled when the bus picks her up to take her to AFDC. It is a five star operation and has been that way since Mom started attending. I highly recommend.
