Programs: Described below is a just a sampling of the many programs and services offered by our Association:Caregiver Support-Helpline: Our Helpline operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week, with 15 volunteer and professional counselors providing emotional support and the full spectrum of referral listings. Translation services are available in many languages. Education: The Association holds numerous Family Education/Training Meetings at accessible sites across the state and annual conferences for family caregivers and professionals. In addition to a Speakers Bureau, our Publications Department distributes more than 100 different educational books, videos and brochures.Training: The Train-the-Trainer Program for long term care and assisted living staff has influenced the quality of care in more than 400 facilities by providing training and educational support to dedicated health care professionals.Minority Outreach: Focusing on African-American, Latino, Asian and other minority families, we have initiated new support groups, trained professional and family caregivers, connected families to critical services and advocated on behalf of individuals with dementia and their caregivers.Safe Return: The objective of this 24-hour life-saving program is to recover memory-impaired people who wander from their homes and become lost. The Association works with public safety organizations and law enforcement officials across the state. Support Groups: The Association provides training, support and education to 180 family support groups in cities and towns throughout the state.Public Policy: In coalition with other elder advocacy organizations across the state, the Association works for long term care policy reform and for dementia research funding at the state and national levels.
