I came in contact with AAQI in November 2009 when I purchased two quilts to benefit Alzheimer's research. In November 2010 AAQI's booth in Houston was one of my first stops. I purchased a total of 5 miniature quits. It's amazing what just a simple idea can acheive to help aid Alzheimer's Reseach. I applaud Ami Simms iand AAQI n this worth while charity to benefit Alzheimer's Reseach. My mother suffers from Dementia. This is such a terrible disease.

I'm at an age when I have friends and family members either showing signs of dementia or caring for loved ones with dementia...it's frightening and debilitating and dehumanizing to the afflicted and so so so hard on those with close relationships. Most of those in my "circle" have been diagnosed with Alzheimers. Devastating.

My Uncle had this terrible disease. A man who read voraciously, told wonderful stories, worked at his job with dedication and loved his family entirely. What happened to him at the end no one should suffer. The money generated to help find a cure for this disease is needed more and more and this charity is a wonderful way to contribute. I will continue to quilt for this organization to raise funds because I know that everything will be given to this cause.

My Grandfather and my husband's Grandfather both suffered in their golden years with this dreadful disease and were taken from us way too soon! It is a very hard disease for the family to deal with as the very essence of the person's humanity slips slowly away. The work of this great organization and all of the tireless hours spent by the quilters making these beautiful creastions gives all of us hope that we will find a cure in the very near future.

Alzheimers has affected too many people in my life. I make quilts for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative because it is a way I am able to help make a difference using my art. This program has helped to raise money for real research that is making an impact on finding help from this horrible disease. I will continue to make quilts for this initiative until I am no longer able to thread a needle.

I believe this charity is doing a great service for our country's alzheimer's victums. The money generated by the small quilts is going for a good cause. The people who make the quilts and donate them are doing so out of the goodness of their hearts. I did purchase a quilt on the site and it hangs in my living room as a reminder of the good that this is doing.

I am a quilter. I heard Ami speak in Sheridan WY in was impressed and touched by her mother's story. I have made a small quilt for her auction when I attended The Quilt Show in Boulder CO last summer. I have bid on quite a few of the quilts during the on-line bidding, but have always been out bid. I do have a friend who was a lucky bidder though.
It's a supurb Initiative and helps everyone.

Kudos to Ami Simms and AAQI.....worthwhile as a charity because Ami has eliminated the middle man....ALL the money raised goes into research to find a way to prevent/cure this SCOURGE on humanity.

My three grown daughters and their progeny, my three grandsons, are all at HIGH RISH
through their paternal genes. I hope I live to see the day when their anxiety and mine can be relieved about them contracting this disease. It devastates and destroys the entire family, not just the Alzheimer's patient. Let's GET with it! THANKS, AMI and AAQI

The AAQI is a wonderful organization that I am so happy to participate in. When my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's two and a half years ago, I felt helpless in doing anything to make him better. Watching someone you love struggle with Alzheimer's can be heartbreaking, and I know there is still a long road ahead. The AAQI has given me hope and a way to make a difference one small quilt at a time. Quilting is therapeutic and I feel even better knowing that my quilts can be sold to raise money for Alzheimer's research. Seeing all of the beautiful quilts that others have donated fills me with amazement and encouragement, but it also makes me sad that so many of those people have also been affected by the disease in some way. Despite being in a different state, I feel very connected to the organization because everything is run by people who are committed to the cause and who will send personal responses instead of automated ones. I like that they allow you to see exactly where the money is going and how it is helping.

As is true of so many of us who have made and donated quilts to this cause, I lost my mother and two of her siblings to Alzheimer's Disease. I could do nothing for her when she was alive, so the best i can do is whatever I can to raise money to find a cure. This organization is a grass roots effort that has done amazing things, raising nearly $500,000-- not in big donations, but one small quilt at a time. As Mother Theresa said, we cannot do great things on this earth but we can do small things with great love. Together, we can find a cure for Alzheimer's.
