The Alum Rock Counseling Center is a wonderful organization that is committed to reaching out to the children of our community. It is an honor to contribute to such an passionate program. Intero Foundation is dedicated to helping children in need …We understand the universal law that you "must give in order to receive." One of our core values is commitment, and we therefore take great pride in belonging to a company in which everyone donates to the Intero Foundation. It gives us an opportunity to give back to our communities and provides us with a sense of personal fulfillment.”

I enjoy being a part of Alum Rock Conseling Center's Mentoring Program because it gives me the opportunity to spend time and give guidance to at-risk youth within my community. The program is also set up in such a fashion in which there is great flexibility and structure. For example, the program provides one to spend time with their mentee in group settings which are fun and for many are first time experiences. These experiences encourage kids to try new things and realize that they can! I have enjoyed building relationships and being a part of something that is rewarding.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the way that the mentees actively participate in activities. It shows in the way that the youth interact in a positive manner with one another, mentors and staff.

I am a former service receiver from ARCC and I am now a very proud Board member of this fantastic community service organization. When I was a high school principal, ARCC provided our community with quality case management for truant students and dysfunctional families. In addition, the 24 hr crisis phone line was used by many of our students and they were able to get timely assistant in critical situations. These are just a few of the many services that they provided to us. Now as a Board member, I can appreciate even more the outstanding work that this Community Agency does for the community. They have an extremely dedicated and competent staff who works very hard and are truly committed to serve. There is no doubt that their work is a significant factor in making San Jose a safe city and a better place to live. Most of all, as a board member I can closely observe how fiscally responsible the administrative staff is and how everyone is held accountable to the highest performance standards. The detailed and extensive collection of programs' evaluation data shows that they get outstanding results. Their services and potential are only limited by the lack of resources and funds. The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

meeting several students and families who the agency have provided services and by evaluating their extensive evaluation reports

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue to do the same work and continue to pursue ways for getting more funds in order to serve a larger population who needs help.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the dedication and commitment to provide high quality programs that make a difference in the lives of their clients.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

are extremely professional, hard working and are kept accountable to ensure that quality services are provided, that include monitoring and follow up.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand their services to a much larger population who is not getting need services because of the limited resources available to the agency.

Ways to make it better...

I would have been given more staff allocations to serve a larger population in a very needy community.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

lack of funds in order to increase their services.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the staff is very impressive in terms of their work ethics, dedication and their passion to serve.

I encountered Alum Rock Counseling Center through my association with Taproot Foundation. Alum Rock has been very successful with many of its programs. However, like organizations that have been around for a long time, Alum Rock also struggled to articulate the depth, breadth and totality of their work. As I began to work for ARCC, I found a deep passion for helping children succeed. I found many measurably successful programs. I found people whose hearts were sold out to minister to the hearts of children who were most at risk and help them have the hope, skills and vision to succeed in their adult lives. The organization is an impressive one. I know my time spent in the organization will be magnified for years to come for many at risk youth in East San Jose. I am honored to be associated with this group of talented professionals who do more then help the community - they change lives.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

they have more than an 86% success rate of turning children from their first encounter with crime or truency to not repeating that behavior.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Expand it up to East Palo Alto where the needs are similar

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The passion for at risk children within the people who work for ARCC

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very gifted, very skilled at their work - professionals in every sense of the word. They were also very driven to make a measurable difference

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand their programs to reach further up the East Bay, into East Palo Alto and Oakland.

Ways to make it better...

There was more funding to get their word out

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding

One thing I'd also say is that...

They are targeting a hard market - the most at risk kids - they deserve all of the breaks they can get
