Mission: The Alliance of Hope for Suicide Survivors, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, provides healing support for people who have lost loved ones to suicide. Our services help people survive the lonely and tumultuous aftermath of loss and eventually go beyond just surviving, to again lead meaningful and productive lives. Our Mission: Kindness matters. For those who've lost a loved one to suicide, it matters a lot. That’s why we exist: to provide healing, compassionate support to those who are suffering through the lonely and tumultuous aftermath of suicide. Our services help people survive and go beyond just surviving, to lead productive lives filled with meaning and joy.
Results: Every day, people write to say the Alliance of Hope is their lifeline. Since 2008, over 5,000 people have joined our forum, exchanging more than 100,000 communications. We currently have the largest public data base about the survivor experience in the world. It is estimated that for each member who actively participates in our forum, 7 to 10 others read and get value, but do not join or post. Over 35% of those leaving reviews on our website have said we were their "lifeline" or "saved their life" in the aftermath of loss.
Target demographics: According to the World Health Organization, approximately one million people die by suicide annually. For each of those victims, eight other people are profoundly affected by a devastating grief that is not well-understood by most professionals, let alone the general public. Our services help people of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds. We help people survive the lonely and tumultuous aftermath of loss and eventually go beyond just surviving, to again lead meaningful and productive lives. With the help of communication technology, we reach places where no other support exists.

Rating: 5 stars

This amazing site grew out of the experience and dedication of its founder who continues to encourage and mentor the responders. This is a labor of love that is a gift to all those survivors who have sucessfully followed an internet search to receive help with their grieving process.
The over 2,000 people who have been helped to-date form a solid foundation for the continued success of the Alliance of Hope and a dramatic proof of why each and every donation fulfills a compelling need.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Referring the site to half a dozen members of my extended Chicago community who were in need of this type of support. It also has an excellent referral section for readings one can turn to during the grief-stricken period. The survivors hurt for years after their loss. And, this site supports the many different degrees of grieving.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Suggest fresh ideas to promote its availability. It needs much greater donor support and a revenue stream for sustainability as the benind-the-scenes maintenance and interaction is 24/7.

There is a reliability and dependability that serves the needs of "any" that show up when they show up and how they show up, without consideration of resources, time or many other factors that render other organizations to measure up less than..... The Alliance of Hope provides just that 24/7, 365, for any and all to show up..... Countless hours of training and education go into making the Alliance of Hope one of the very few opportunities for sufferers to go... Now. Exactly when the individual needs it and how the individual needs it....... This has been the last communication for some, and the first communication for others. Alliance of Hope is there for all..... Completely worth it!!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The area of considering where to place charitable funds that will make the most difference for others. Alliance of Hope fills the bill.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The only changes I would make would be to increase funding with the complete commitment to bring this program Global.
